Debbie’s the moron for even associating this movie with children in the first place. Long before it was a movie it was an incredibly dark piece of ADULT fiction penned by Alan Moore. It was never intended for children.

‘The Watchmen’ was a cynic’s eye view of the superhero aesthetic and if such a thing is even possible.

“... it’s being heavily marketed as a superhero movie, with action figures for your kids ...” But you wish to blame Debbie for bringing it up that this is entirely inappropriate for children!

God’s plan for procreation might not be dirty and nasty, but visual depictions of procreation are pretty universally accepted as pornographic, not something for kids to watch.

Uhh, how do you know ANYTHING about most movies? Are people who went to see “Brokeback Mountain” expecting Gary Cooper and got gay cowboys eating pudding supposed feel outraged for not konwing in advance that it's about, uhh, gay cowboys?

The publicity machine for the, hello, “R” rated “Watchmen” is all cranked up. Book stores are displaying the original graphic novel and various tie in materials that tells anyone even just picking up and flipping through a few pages the nature of the material. Blogs talking about it often make a point about it's adult nature. Even the movie trailers themselves are dead give aways that this is not exactly Superman and apple pie ... (see the trailers if you haven't, it's got death, blood, killing, riots, pretty dark and brooding and a bit nihilistic for a movie trailer edited for all audience)

*headbash*

Yes, you are a moron if you take your kids to see an R-rated movie. You’re even more of a moron if you take your kids to see an R-rated movie that’s frequently mentioned as being violent, was based on a notoriously ADULT graphic novel, has the words ‘sexuality, nudity, graphic violence, and language’ accompanying the ‘R’ rating, has commercials that clearly imply it’s dark and apocalyptic, etc, etc.

Yes, it’s being marketed as a movie with super heroes and kids are going to be drawn to such a thing. But Complaining that an R rated movie has violence and sex unsuitable for children is like complaining that freshly brewed coffee is hot.

If you believe that came from Vladimir Ilich Lenin, you are as dumb as Debbie.

Do you really need a "Alarmist Buchmanite Source" label to recognize it as crap?

"sexy books and plays" and "ridicule, contempt and obloquy": Reading Level Inconsistency much?

that should be reworded to "if you think Watchmen is a kid's superhero movie, you're a moron"

The graphic novel was primarily a psycho-study of how well-meaning vigilantes turn into sociopaths. This ain't "Zoom!" folks!

Have you read the “graphic novel”?
Cover to cover. Several times.
Have you seen the movie?
About 20 minutes of it.

What's your point?

LOL..........to misquote Khalil Gibran, "Half of What You Say Is Meaningless…"

According to your simplex reasoning...........I guess the following folks are also Buchmanites.............

"Now, there's another major wrong done to traditional American values that needs to be corrected. Our forefathers were religious people, and they were also enlightened enough to realize the follies of religious intolerance." Ronald Reagan

"Evil flourishes when good men do nothing." Edmund Burke

"You ask, what is our policy? I can say: It is to wage war, by sea, land and air, with all our might and with all the strength that God can give us..." Winston Churchill

"Free Republic is pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, pro-gun, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-capitalism, pro-national defense, pro-freedom, and-pro America." Jim Robinson

"God doesn't call me to be successful. God calls me to be faithful." Mother Teresa

"The choice is not between order and liberty. It is between liberty with order and anarchy without either. There is danger that, if the court does not temper its doctrinaire logic with a little practical wisdom, it will convert the constitutional Bill of Rights into a suicide pact." Supreme Court Justice Robert Jackson

"Order is heaven's first law..." Pope

"I have lived long enough to know what I did not at one time believe-that no society can be upheld in happiness and honor without the sentiment of religion." La Place

"Our humanity were a poor thing were it not for the divinity which stirs within us" Bacon

"Had I a dozen sons, each in my love alike. I had rather have eleven die nobly for their country, than one voluptuously surfeit out of action." Shakespeare

"There is no being eloquent for atheism. In that exhausted receiver the mind cannot use its wings-the clearest proof that it is out of its element." Hare

"Those who quit their proper character to assume what does not belong to them, are for the greater part ignorant of both the character they leave and of the character they assume." Burke

"We've staked our future in our ability to follow the Ten Commandments with all our hearts." James Madison

"...No truth is more evident to my mind than that the Christian religion must be the basis of any government intended to secure the rights and privileges of a free people." Noah Webster

"Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports." George Washington

"Arbitrary power is most easily established on the ruins of liberty abused to licentiousness." George Washington

It was none other than Ben Franklin, asked as he emerged from the Constitutional Convention about what type of government had been proposed for the American people, who replied, "A Republic, if you can keep it." Most are familiar with that quote by Franklin. But, not many know what he said later, amplifying his remark, predicting that the new nation would be well administered for a few years, "but only end in despotism, as other forms have done before, when the people shall become so corrupted as to need despotic government, being incapable of any other."

As America continues the downward spiral from morality to immorality........from religion to anti-religion.......from traditional values to no values......we reap the whirlwind.....ergo, the socialist/marxist/communist Obama administration.........exactly what the Founding Fathers warned us about more than 200 years ago.......

The point is that I misread your post and made myself look like an idiot ;)

I thought you said that if YOU went to Watchmen, you were an idiot.

I retract and agree.
Anybody that takes their kids to this movie is an idiot.

Her point was that parents would be bringing 10 year olds to this film and witnessed such action.

If people are stupid enough to take their kids to an R-rated movie, that's their problem.
