I don’t like belts buckled at the empire waist. Ed Grimley and Alfalfa come to mind.

I don’t like empire waists in the first place - they make everyone look pregnant - so I vote 2.

I pick #2 but looking at this picture, the belt is sitting at Michelle mah Belle's waist. I think she's very high waisted (or is that she's very high and always wasted?? LOL)

Are we talking personally, or in general here? I avoid wearing anything with an empire waist, as it makes me look very young and way too skinny, but the look works wonders on my little sister.

In this specific case, the big problem (other than the obvious mismatching) is that a belt like that requires a long shirt that’s NOT a dress shirt or deep v-neck, and conversely, that outfit does NOT require a belt.

2 - Belts around the waist are lame, unless they are to hold up pants.

3—It’s not meant to be an empire waist. She meant it to be at her natural waist, but it crept up to where an empire waist would be. It’s wrong on so many levels, I don’t know where to begin. Hasn’t this woman ever heard of Tahari or Anne Klein? They make some great suits that look professional and can be worn all day without a wrinkle. They’re comfortable and last for years and cost less than that just that idiotic striped blouse probably cost. But maybe “frumpy PTA mother” is the look she’s going for.

What I want to know is, if she wears low rider pants just how far apart is the waistband of her pants and her belt? ick, that would be so uncomfortable and I would always feel that something was not pushed down where it should be or something was about to fall down. You ladies know what I’m talking about. When your clothes are just not fitting exactly right.

2 - I don’t like belts buckled at the empire waist.

I also don’t like jackets that don’t fit and too many textures and designs in too small a space.

#2 - I don’t like belts bucked at the empire waist. It kind of defeats the purpose of empire waists.
