Not clear here WHAT she was reading on the laptop. I would think that in some situations, information that the officer needs en route to a call would be coming through the laptop.

Oh great. Now they need to look into a written policy to prevent stupid people from doing stupid things. This gal did not just”glance” at her laptop. She had to have been focused on it. A glance allows you peripheral vision AND is what one does as one scans the road ahead and behind while driving.

Of the lack of a written policy, Tranquille said, "We're going to look at it."BS. Already the big blue wall comes down. Every state has reckless driving laws. Prosecute her under those and be done with it.

So, will this have an impact on her insurance rates?

And cops will write a seat belt ticket as a primary violation, but they’re exempt from that same law in most states that have such a thing.

The law requiring certain vehicles to stop at all RR-crossings is insane.
There is a crossing near my town on a four-lane highway with a posted speed-limit of 70 and everybody does 80.
Once a week somebody slams into the back of a school-bus or tanker-truck there.
There can be no common sense when it comes to the law.

Of the lack of a written policy, Tranquille said, "We're going to look at it."Hey, Tranquille, not while you're driving!
And a police cruiser going 5 mph UNDER the speed limit? Not very likely.
