I’m definitely looking forward to it. But, at the same time I’m apprehensive. Movies are never as good as the books.

Except for the plum chiffon (and she’s even wearing stockings!), those are some GHASTLY clothes.

Creepy-looking people for a bomb-to-be movie.

And yes, I did read it.

At a high level, Watchmen is about a crazy world in which everything is falling apart and no one seems to know what to do.

The big blockbuster in a couple months is "Terminator: Salvation" which is about a crazy world in which everything has already fallen apart and somebody does seem to know what to do.

I don't think anyone will see either movie and come to the conclusion that Obama is the solution (much more likely to conclude that he is the problem). We live in desperate times. People do funny stuff when they think the world is ending.

I plan on watching both movies and not thinking about modern day politics for 1 second during either. Sometimes entertainment is just that.

I have already purchased my IMAX tickets for Friday.
I am stoked.

Oh, I am sure this is ok to post.

Xbox Live, Watchmen Deal. I used it to buy mine.

I’m curious what the plotline will be for this Watchmen adaptation.

The original comic dealt with a fabricated “9-11” type event in Manhattan (written in the mid-1980s).

I heard that Sam Hamm’s original script treatment (from the 1980s) radically altered the story.

Not sure what this story will be or what resemblence it will have to anything Alan Moore’s written.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit kept a few character names and one line of dialogue about a 3 year old dinky. Nothing else. Roger was a killer in the original (about comic strip characters).

There's an 8 minute review of Watchmen on Youtube from an big fan who has seen it (he's got interviews with the director up there too). He says that the ending has changed, but that the new ending makes sense and may be better than the original. He doesn't spoil anything, and he gives no hint as to any political leaning (Moore is a leftist, but it's not clear to me that the movie will be).

The guy doing the review was very enthusiastic. Loved the comic. Loved the movie more.

Am really excited about this movie. The Director (Zach Snyder?) did amazing things with 300, and I believe will do the same with The Watchmen. Favorite character will be Rorshach, who incidently in the book is a conservative.

Word is the only real changes are simplifying the ending. No more big blobby fake alien, but still the same core concept. Oh and the pirate story was filmed but never intended to be in the theatrical, it’s in a DVD released next week.

...and she’s even wearing stockings!

(Veering a bit off topic): I don't understand why most women nowadays do not wear hosiery anymore. I think they bring out (enhance) the feminity in women, thus I'm more attracted to women who do wear them that don't.

Moore is a leftist, but it's not clear to me that the movie will be...

Moore is a radical Anarchist. Zero government. Everyone governs themselves and only themselves. Hardly a "Leftist"/"Collectivist" ideal. Radical individualism kinda rubs the Commies raw.

I hope Zack was careful about the changed ending. Adrian's reason and motivations better not have changed. Method, I'm ok with as the original was goofy even for a graphic novel.

"No. Not even in the face of Armageddon. Never compromise." - Rorschach.

This changes, and the movie will lose a lot for me.

My wife can’t stand the feeling of nylon on her legs. She’s got fantastic legs that really don’t need hosiery to make ‘em look better.

I think they don’t because it’s uncomfortable (unless you need to keep warm). However, I agree that, in almost all cases, bare legs would be better covered.
