Ann Coulter is awesome. Maybe you could try going over to DU to find more people who will agree with you.
Is political discourse a little more rough and tumble? Yes. But we shouldn't throw civility entirely out the window. There is too much animosity without it.
However, if someone is rude to me in a political discussion, they very well might, get it right back. : )
She said about Jindal: "Wasn't Bobby great in 'Slumdog Millionaire'"? OMG! She's gone way too far this time!
And she called Pelosi "mentally retarded" OMG! She's gone way too far this time!
And she made fun of all the "Historic Firsts" of the first African American President. OMG! She's gone way too far this time!
And she made fun of goverment workers. OMG! She's gone way too far this time!
And she accused schoolteachers of having sex with pupils. OMG! She's gone way too far this time!
And she made fun of the Clintons. OMG! She's gone way too far this time!
And she called government schools "union incinerators". OMG! She's gone way too far this time!
And I'm not even a third of the way through the column yet! Gasp! Choke!
Seriously, for anyone to read an Ann Coulter column and then complain about her sarcastic wit makes about as much sense as going to a war movie and then complaining about the violence, or going to a porn flick and then complaining about the sex, or going to a comedy club and then complaining about raunchy jokes.
Like, what did you expect?
The rest of us know what to expect when we pick up one of Ann's columns, and we're seldom disappointed!
It sounds like you'd be happier reading a column from David Gergen or Peggy Noonan or similar?
Coulter's actions in the 2008 election -- where said Fred Thompson was RINO scum (but somehow Romney & Giuliani were great guys because they were "more conservative" than their home states) just reinforced my views. And no she did not "endorse Duncan Hunter", she said he was a great conservative (which is a no-brainer, it's what most of us said). And yes, she did PROMISE to campaign FOR the RAT nominee -- whether or not it was Obama or Hillary (National Review specifically asked her about either scenario) -- IF the GOP nominated McCain. When it actually happened, she didn't have the balls to follow through on that "promise"
Coulter is definitely the Michael Moore of the right, down to the fact that her cultist fan base will take whatever she says as gospel and accuse you of being a "hater filled with lies" if you debunk any of the "facts" she makes that don't come true or are proven false later on. It's no use trying to argue with her fan club. If Michael Moore told his followers that Obama is Bush's long lost brother they'd believe it -- ditto with Ann's. And in both cases, everytime they open their mouths they only hurt the very "cause" they're trying to promote. John Edwards, for example, got a surge in donations after Coulter felt the need to use an obsenity to get her point across.
Coulter just jumped into the fray in 2001 after Barbara Olsen died and tried to cash in on Olsen's fan base. However, Barbara has one thing that Ann will never have, and that's class.
You make a good point about being hypersensitive...agreed. Making fun of him for looking like he had too much makeup or for having a weird voice would be friendly razzing. I just don’t think Slumdog Millionarie is that friendly of a tease. The POTUS is one of the most thin-skinned people I’ve ever seen (Dowd teasing his ears, responding to Rush and Hannity constantly).
Wow! She is tough.

I think he's well able to take a little razzing from a friendly columnist. It wouldn't surprise me if she knows him.
the hypersensitivity in our culture has got to stop.
Mainly about a smart-aleck remark made among friends.
As I say, I like Jindal, I liked Slumdog Millionaire, and I like Ann. This almost seems like one of those fake threads where someone is trying to stir something up where there isn't anything to stir up.
The quarter pounder diet would ruin Ann’s looks. At 48, she needs to carefully watch her diet. I have seen women her age so obese that they have to ride in a Hoveround to get around.
There are many who would wish their wives looked that good at 48.
Fire, ready aim. The motto of many on FR
You think Alan who couldn’t beat Obama in the Senate race
will beat your foes.
I am backing the winner
I can’t stand Noonan, Rodham Gergen, David Brooks, Kathleen Parker...I only complained about Ann’s ethnic slur, and I wouldn’t like it if it was against a lib or conservative. I have no problem with calling a dumb person dumb.
You're supporting Obama?
The reason for this is she *is* what so many of us *are* at heart.(including many on the Left- if they were true to themselves) Bobby is too, but his style against the Left hardly stands a chance. Nice guys finish last. At some point, the gloves have to come off. "Move over, Rover, let Jimi take over."
I haven't seen Slumdog and don't know the reference, but I know Ann steps into the batter's box with one thing in mind: go for the fence. Ask any homerun hitter what it's like to whiff at strike three. At least they were swinging.
Pushing this analogy further, Bobby is the guy I'd want hitting first or second in the lineup. He'll get on base and his hands at shortstop are flawless. But what you need on the mound is a closer, and that means speed and control. At best, his fastball would be 87mph. Sarah, on the other hand, will come at you high and low with 95. Truth and passion are a mean combination and umps are given to letting small stuff slide when faced with it. I know, I used to do it.
I agree. I think the praise for Obama was a tactic poorly conceived. It was an attempt to disarm the public with sugar coating so they would be influenced by his conservative message. It was poorly executed.
That would be great if they know each other and if this was an inside joke among friends ( I doubt it), but I can’t recall her ever saying anything about him (I read her all the time).
What lie is that?
I watched his speech on youtube. It was a joke. From beginning to end.
It was for fourth graders.
Exactly...now that is what I call constructive criticism. And Ann is usually good at that...Slumdog doesn’t do it.
I haven’t gotten Guilty yet, but I haven’t got time to read it. I’ll pick it up at a garage sale this summer.
Coulter is my favorite conservative author. Her books nail it and are very entertaining. I especially liked her skewering of evolutionists in her last book. I hope this one does the same for the GW nuts.
I have some problems w/Justice Roberts’ vote on Kelo and one other decision whose name escapes me right now. Still, I agree that Ann is classless. This giggly, sophmoric shtick is getting old. She now amuses herself more than she does me. Ascerbic wit, cutting intelligence, a great legal mind and all aside, to me, with that incessant giggling punctuating every damned thought, she comes across as an annoying shrew.
Anybody who has heard Hirsi Ali make her points with dignity and quiet self-assurance, or Pfotenhauer or Malkin or any no. of others cannot help but despise the giggling load of smartaleckry that Ann puts out.
