VANITY - For The Sake Of MY Children

Posted on 02/27/2009 5:48:33 PM PST by Macanudo Maduro

Rush said (in jest I believe) "that if this keeps up, I'm moving to New Zealand". That brought a lot of condemnation on this board. As I have been a lurker here for nearly 10 years, I signed up today - only to post to you good folks that we too are getting out while the gettin is good. We have been involved with the paperwork now for nearly three months, and many more months previous in research. You see, when you reach our age - you do not do something this Big for yourselves, you do them for your children. We will not allow our children to have to pay for our generations destruction of the Greatest country in history. We have no faith that even if the GOP regains some power that things will change - only the pace of our subjugation. We cannot see how this country can be brought back to its Constitutional foundation without a revolution - be it a shooting war or not. There are NO men of honor in our government. So you see, Rush fights his fight with words, and if they shut him down - he will no longer be effective. But if he changes his HQ to NZ, his fight can continue. I on the other hand, have only my ability to soldier - so we are getting the family (5 kids, all under 11) out, and if my fellow countrymen decide they love freedom more than life - I alone will be coming back to join them. Maybe we will be neighbors with Rush. There it is - I (for the most part) respect alot of voices on this forum, and would appreciate some of your views on this. Regards.

If the US fails, the world will quickly decay into lawlessness and anarchy. Under those circumstances I couldn’t think of a better place to be than right here, where the most folks will be positioned to use the country’s ample resources to rebuild.

I’d invite you to join the very conversation you started, but I’m sure by the time I post this you will have been ZOTTED.

I took a look at it, and it didn’t look like our Constitution. And also, in regards to the rights granted by our Creator God, in the Declaration of Independence, I didn’t see that kind of “understanding” there, but rather something in which the “state” granted the right to life... (anyway, that’s the way I read it).

I don’t believe that there is anything around the world that compares to the U.S. Constitution, and its preceding document, the Declaration of Independence, especially in connection with the rights which are exclusively granted by our Creator God.

Now, I know that other nations have “constitutions” (a “general term”) but not *the* Constitution... which is what I’m referring to — and especially in regards to New Zealand, which is in discussion here...

Yeah, like jumping from a frying pan into a fire. Socialist misery is seemingly everywhere, or will be.

Yes...the OP has been removed from the board.
Just amazing...

There is, and always will be only one USA. It was born of a hope and is still under-going the pains of growth. I pray for my country everyday. But I think its going to take more than mere prayers to put it back on its true course.

Living in another country is a matter of compromises. That is the biggest obstacle one will face. You must honestly ask yourself 'How well can I adapt?' How will your family adapt?
Different contries and cultures have their own way of 'doing things.' You will not change them.
Once you understand and accept this, you will learn how the game is played.

A pity the OP was 86'd.

Have you considered moving to a much closer socialist country?

Like Vermont?

I love my country very much. I’ve lived in others and nowhere, NOWHERE compares to the US and I will not cut and run. Running from socialism into socialism?? Even my naturalized husband would not dream of abandoning her. No other country in the world affords its citizens the protections that we have here. I’d rather stay and fight for those protections than betray the the struggles and blood of my ancestors. Kind of difficult to teach my children patriotism if I also tell them ‘If the going gets tough, we can always move somewhere else. It’s not worth fighting for.” If we collapse, the world will follow.

Rush said (in jest I believe) "that if this keeps up, I'm moving to New Zealand"...neighbor who pilots for American recommends Costa Rica - fairly modern accomodations and a lot of American ex-pats, he says - we both think the US is headed for third world status, but he says CR is a second world country, so it would be a step up over staying here....

To be fair the ZOTted OP is probably right to think of New Zealand as a place that, for the most part, values certain freedoms. Biggest problem is NZ could not defend itself from forces that would arrive to exploit it's resources.

OTOH the US military, along with most of it's command and infrastructure, would survive all but the most unimaginable of desperate times, and it would quickly mobilize to preserve and defend the homeland and the constitution whether or not a functional executive or legislative government exists at the time (or perhaps in spite of the government under certain circumstances).

Any invading force can be assured of destruction, and anyone with a reasonable amount of intelligence who thinks about it much at all will know this.

Our family always jokes about leaving for greener pastures. But the point is, this is my Country, my children’s country, my parents country. All four of my grandparents left their country to start a new life here. I don’t care what anyone else does, leave or stay, whatever. Me and mine will stay and fight. There’s no greater place on Earth to live than the United States.

My grandmother suffered much poverty and pain in Norway and came to America with her son for a better life. My family is here and I’m not leaving. Check my tagline. He’s taken care of us so far.

You’re aware of the history and current situation in Sicily right? Granted, it’s a beautiful area. A great place to visit but I wouldn’t want to live there (and my grandparents certainly didn’t want to live there, or in Italy, which is why they came to the United States). We still have family in Italy (and Ireland, and my oldest brother keeps saying he’ll move there, Ireland is another really beautful place but again nothing like the United States).

Whenever I think it sucks here, all I have to do is talk to my family in Italy and Ireland and then I know it sucks worse there.
