ZOT!! Being blocked to purchase a gun

I recently ordered a gun (long rifle). Went down to pick it up today and was turned down. Puzzled - I purchased a new hand gun in December 08. Any thoughts??

Not always. I had a planned elk hunt in Wshington State last year with two businessmen from South Carolina. One of these men has been in business there for about 30 years and has a stellar reputation. He also has a large gun collection with pieces purchased legally and locally. A few weeks before we were to leave, he went to a local Walmart to purchase a new rifle and the paperwork was “lost”. He re-filed the application and was turned down for the rifle with no explanation. I had him call the FBI and the agent told him that 45 years before, when he was a teenager, they had a record of a fight in which two Myrtle Beach police officers were hurt and my friend went to jail for a weekend. 45 years seems like along time to hold a file on a misdemeanor.

I can't wait for the government to have everyone's medical records.
I've known a few people who've had minor incidents pop up years later, due to recent computorization of records. A DUI will keep you out of Canada. If there's something minor lurking, probably better to deal with it sooner rather than later, and I tell my kids anything you do today could haunt you a half century from now.
