Indianapolis - A Hoosier Lottery winner's misfortune turned into a stroke of good luck for hundreds of bargain hunters.
Faster auctioneers can set a price, merchandise is moving. From rugs to dishes to antique furniture, hundreds hoped to get their hands on a warehouse full of bargains.
"It's actually $45. It retails for $600," said Steven Phan.
"We've bought china cabinets, tables, lots of stuff," said Lisa Burton.
The eclectic collection was up for sale to the highest bidder, but whose stuff is it anyway?
"I know it was something to do with a lottery winner," said Joanie Schultz.
"She was a lottery winner," said Burton. "I truly do not know what happened."
According to those running the auction, everything belonged to a Hoosier Lottery winner who was forced to sell it.
"Have you seen how many bedroom suites there are?" said Burton.
"There's no way it came from one home," said Phan.
"If you had a million dollars and just bought and bought and bought, sure, this could be one person's stuff," said Rick Butler.
Besides the store of riches to rags, the unusual collection had people curious. Among the items was a high-backed chair with elephants carved on the arms.
"No comment," joked Rick Butler, questioning the original buyer's taste.
A Hoosier Lottery spokesperson tells Eyewitness News they cannot confirm that the merchandise belonged to a Hoosier Lottery winner. They asked Commercial Liquidators of America to remove the lottery name from their ads.
