There have been several posts on different threads where this topic has been discussed. Some FReepers say our U.S. military would not use armed force against citizens if order to do so; others say they would, going as far as saying that "the military will fight for whoever pays them to."
I thought why not just ask our FReepers who are currently on active duty what they think.
So, active duty military FReepers, here are the questions:
1. Would you obey an order from the current president to disarm U.S. citizens and force them into internment camps?
2. Do you believe that those in your chain of command would carry out such an order?
3. What do you believe is the percentage of personnel in your command that would refuse the order?
4. What do you believe is the percentage of personnel in the entire U.S. miltary that would refuse the order?
Plot ping
That sounds like a war scenario to me.
That has been my main fear since election day, before it even. A bunch of Black Panthers waiting to cart me off to camp or concubinage. As a woman, these things do float through my head when it didn’t used to.
I agree the military would turn on Obama sooner than their own people.
There is a youtube video of him addressing this issue.
You assumptions are flawed, it wont happen like that, it will be slow, and you will either obey the incremental laws or be arrested. Maybe not even arrested, the wont come looking for guns, it’s just that if you caught with them, but they will stop selling them, that you can count on. They’ll be no “rising up” because it will just happen very slowly.
I wouldn’t shoot at Americans.
But I would be more than happy to ring Washington D.C. with concertina.
Why do people insist on bringing Mt. Carmel up every time this subject is mentioned?
Personally, I think lessons have been learned since that day, given what we have experienced since then. Remember, the Branch Davidian Seige began in February 1993, only 2 months into Clintoon’s administration. That was 16 years ago.
We saw 8 years of his socialist BS, and then 8 years of some degree of “common sense” and are now seeing the beginnings of a socialist era. We’ve all opened our eyes since that awful day.
Sixteen years has been long enough time for our current generation of soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines to have a better grasp of what is lawful and what is not. You cannot equate the morality of this generation with that of 16 years ago.
Yes.
Create chaos, send military all over the place in order to justify the need for this civilian force.
An American ton ton macoutes.
I wouldn’t put it past him for a minute.
You never know. A lot of Mexicans think Obama is as dumb as a box of rocks. Who knows, perhaps after a few years in the military they would end up republicans! They are religious after all.
I will have no qualms about shooting back.
The President Cannot ORDER troop actions inside the USA without state permission.
aka Katrina delay in Louisiana.
As a veteran and an officer I believe the posse comitatus act come into play.
I do not believe it could be carried out.
No and No
Good point!
That suits me just fine. Those would be the ones I'd prefer to engage.
Let mine nourish the tree.

I truly believe if any one of them got the message that this was happening, they would wind up at our sides defending our way of life — if they had to scale Mt. Everest, swim the ocean or hijack a tanker — they'd get here. I really, truly believe that.
...and then, we'd kick a$$, and I'd help.
Then you said,
"Why do people insist on bringing Mt. Carmel up every time this subject is mentioned?"
The pictures demonstrate that 100% confidence is a tad too high.
Won't that be fun! They will be at a distinct disadvantage if they're not front line units. They better start with a State like New York or New Jersey because they will soon findout the job will be a lot harder than they expect.
