It says a bookfull about Americans not understanding productive jobs. Most don’t have one so they don’t care how food gets on their plate. They sit in cubicles and go to meetings, producing little to nothing.

When people talk about big bonuses for finance company wizards, it gets mentioned that if you want top talent, you have to pay for it. I'm not here to argue against that.

But note that the financial geniuses with degrees from all the top schools, managed to make many dumb mistakes and drive many prestigous companies into the ground. So, that's a group of really, really smart guys, trying to run 1 business, and failing spectacularly. It happened at AIG. It happened at Lehman. It happened many times at many individual businesses. Succeeding in business isn't easy.

Who in their right mind thinks that a bunch of lowly government bureaucrats, or people like Joe Biden will be able to manage our $14T economy?????

It’s not only impossible to plan the economy, it’s down right dangerous. Eggheads with specialized knowledge are ready, willing and able to exploit the niches created by the controlling authorities. Witness the California energy deregulation disaster and the present credit mess.

The goal of industry used to be to produce a product or perform a service of value. Now it seems to be to make a chunk of change before said activity becomes illegal.
