John McCain's daughter, Meghan McCain, 24, has agreed to headline the annual convention of the Log Cabin Republicans, a GOP group which advocates on behalf of gays and lesbians.
"Her willingness to reach out to organizations like ours shows her commitment to growing the Republican Party," Log Cabin convention manager Christian Berle told ABC News. "The title of Meghan McCain's speech is 'Winning the Next Generation -- How can the Republican Party attract more young voters.'"
Joining Meghan McCain at the conference will be Steve Schmidt, her father's top 2008 strategist. The topic of Schmidt's address is "Moving Forward."
The Log Cabin Republicans are scheduled to meet in Washington, D.C., on April 17th at a time when the GOP is seeking to rebound from an election which left the party out of power on both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue.
In addition to Meghan McCain and Schmidt, the Log Cabin Republicans will also hear from former New Jersey Gov. Christie Todd Whitman (R), who will discuss her work with the moderate Republican Leadership Council, and former Rep. Tom Davis, R-Va., who will share his perspective as a former chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee.
Michael Steele, the newly elected chairman of the Republican National Committee, has also been invited to address the Log Cabin Republicans.
He has not yet, however, committed to speak.
The Log Cabin convention is being held in conjunction with the Liberty Education Forum National Symposium.
The registration fee for the conference is $395 per person.
I’ll second your good grief.

Look, I don’t go around telling people what the wife and I do in private. It’s anybody’s guess. But we ain’t tellin.
But homos and lesbos and the other pervs ... c’mon.
Oh, **it!
Ignore the PERVERTS!
Geesh!
Won’t these people please go away. Hey McCain daughter, our first order of business is to stop listening to people with mindsets such as yours or your dimwitted, sellout father.
She’s a hoodwinked fool ...like dear old dad.
I see your grief, and raise you a hissyfit.
And there are those reptards who will pay this to attend...
In retrospect, not a very good title for a speech to use at a homosexual club...
All I have to say to the LCR is “Vote Republican based on conservative ideals if you wish but don’t attempt to change the GOP to fit your agenda.”
The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, does it? |

LOL NAMBLA (North American Marlon Brando Look Alikes) Agree.
With the libs completely controlling public education and forcing marxist propananda into the fragile eggshell minds of students, good luck with that.

Well, there’s hope for the party if Steele doesn’t show up.
“Ignore the PERVERTS!
Geesh!”
I agree with you, and we shouldn’t support politicians that support the homosexual agenda.
I am more convinced than ever before that as we seek to establish full equality for Americas gay and lesbian citizens, I will provide more effective leadership than my opponent.
I am not unaware of my opponents considerable record in the area of civil rights, or the commitment of Massachusetts voters to the principle of equality for all Americans. For some voters it might be enough for me to simply match my opponents record in this area. But I believe we can and must do better. If we are to achieve the goals we share, we must make equality for gays and lesbians a mainstream concern. My opponent cannot do this. I can and will.
We have discussed a number of important issues such as the Federal Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), which I have agreed to co-sponsor, and if possible broaden to include housing and credit, and the bill to create a federal panel to find ways to reduce gay and lesbian youth suicide, which I also support. One issue I want to clarify concerns President Clintons dont ask, dont tell, dont pursue military policy. I believe that the Clinton compromise was a step in the right direction. I am also convinced that it is the first of a number of steps that will ultimately lead to gays and lesbians being able to serve openly and honestly in our nations military. That goal will only be reached when preventing discrimination against gays and lesbians is a mainstream concern, which is a goal we share.
As we begin the final phase of this campaign, I need your support more than ever. By working together, we will achieve the goals we share for Massachusetts and our Nation.
Sincerely,
W. Mitt Romney
The GOP, which is the one US political party that claims (at least) to be trying to maintain traditional Judeo-Christian values, should not be welcoming open homosexuals into its ranks.
How is this exactly “growing the Republican Party”? That is a stupid statement.
Yeah sure it’s great to reach out to groups that are in diametric oppostion to their party’s platform (and the grass-roots): THE MEDIA ONLY TRUMPETS THIS BECAUSE IT IS ABOUT IDEOLOGY, THEY WANT TO DE-CONSERVATISE THE REPUBLICAN PARTY! We must not let this happen..
I’m still waiting for liberals to show me the passage in the Constitution that says we have a right to others’ unconditional approval of our sexual behavior.
