Just beautiful!!!
Great pictures!
I have to find my slide of a Great Blue Heron I stumbled across in a heavy snow( 2 feet). I was tracking some deer hoping to catch some good shots. While wading across a creek I spotted him standing on a rock in the middle of the creek, hunched up, looking miserable and angry. Big as they are they’re only a few inches thick. Standing on a branch looking at you head on they’re not easy to spot.
Film was to slow to catch him when he lit up but I did catch 2 standing shots. Not easy birds to get close to with only a 150mm lens.
Isn't that the truth! Great shots!
Ah, you’re probably right. We do have Great Blues around here.
It’s amazing how they can spot a backyard pond in the middle of suburbia and know there might be lunch there. We lost our fish while the herons were in nesting season, so I’m sure they were searching far and wide for food for their young.
Color changes are stunning. Thanks for the explanation...all would have been unknown to me as I observed these shots.
Oh - HERON. My quick read of the title said HEROIN; what the hell is tri-colored heroin. A new designer drug?
