"Jack Hinson never planned to become a deadly sniper. A prosperous and influential plantation owner in the 1850s, Hinson was devoted to raising his growing family and working his land. Though a slaveowner, Hinson was opposed to secession. But after a unit of Union occupation troops moved in on his land and summarily captured, executed, and placed the decapitated heads of his sons on his gateposts, Hinson abandoned his quiet life for one of revenge. . ."

This type of thing may happen again in the next few years.
Dear God, I hope not.
Outlaw Josey Wales.
Sticking heads on gateposts?
My favorite Eastwood flick with my favorite Eastwood quote:
“Dyin’ ain’t much of a livin’, boy.”
My 2nd favorite:
“Are you gonna pull those pistols or whistle Dixie?”
The revisionists tend to leave out the atrocities committed by the invading union armies.
That one still cracks me up.
I also hope not. But the Obama administration is determined to acquire as much power as it can as fast as it can. These types of folks don’t recognize any limits to what government should do. And they do not brook any opposition when they really want something. The jackbooted thugs will be back and in greater numbers than before. And there is more willingness to use them than ever before. For Obama, the ends justify the means, so if someone must be squashed, he has the will, means and lack of conscience needed to squash them. And that just might lead to people taking matters into their own hands.
Interestingly, I was thinking the same.
My ancestors were burned out of Alabama during Reconstruction.
There were many horror stories about Southern maltreatment then.
I had an ancestor that was “involved” and had to disappear.
This one will not be put in print, but I can identify with Jack Hinton’s rage.
“The revisionists tend to leave out the atrocities committed by the invading union armies.”
That’s a fact. The history books used in the public schools never mention the Yankee tactic of forced starvation enacted upon the Southern civilian population. They never mention the few reported incidents of starving people being reduced to cannibalism. But, the victors get to write the history books, so it’s no wonder some things were ignored or glossed over.
Heads on Gateposts? I didn’t know the Northern Aggrssors had a Muslem Unit.
