Patrick Swayze cut a gaunt figure when he was spotted in public for the first time in weeks. The actor, who is fighting pancreatic cancer, looked gaunt and frail as he defiantly smoked a cigarette while waiting for wife Lisa Niemi in Beverly Hills.
Once famed for his athletic body and steamy routines in the 1987 hit movie Dirty Dancing, the actor now looks a shadow of his former self.
The 56-year-old smoked several cigarettes in under 10 minutes, according to onlookers, puffing big clouds of smoke out of the truck.'He was puffing away and appeared as if he didn't have a care in the world. It's so sad,' said one.
Reports from the US suggest that he has stopped treatment for the cancer, including chemotherapy, after experiencing extreme side-effects such as excruciating dental pain making it impossible to chew food.
The actor blows a plume of smoke out the window of his car, smoking several cigarettes in just 10 minutes
He is believed to have undergone dental surgery to repair his damaged gums and save his teeth.

I sure the Hollywood libs are scandalized over this. Drugs, booze, butt sex-these are all cool, but don’t you dare smoke a cigarette.
Pancreatic cancer almost always always wins that battle, and precious minutes are about all it allows.
You might want to do some research on pancreatic cancer. Once you're diagnosed, it's six months, if you're lucky. With my Dad, it was six weeks.
“And when Mr. C comes after you, you’re going to be singin a different tune. You’ll be battlin for every precious minute more you can eke out of life.”
That’s a fact. I’m a cancer patient. I know of what I speak.
I read the results of a study which compared the health benefits of exercising 20 minutes a few times a week to spending long hours in the gym or running, or whatever. It seems that for the serious exerciser, the actual time spent at exercising far exceeds the extra life time gained.
Of course, you could hit by a bus, and all that time in the gym would be wasted entirely.
He's right. It's a myth which has been disproven.
“Smoking can cause cancer anywhere in the body by altering the bodys chemistry and response to fighter cells, suppressing their activity.”
That’s true. I used to smoke (quit for good 20 years ago). But a year ago I was diagnosed with bladder cancer. I’ve had several surgeries, chemo, immunotherapy, etc. My doctor told me that the two main causes of bladder cancer are cigarette smoking and working with some industrial solvents (certain dyes, for example, which is why people working with leather are at risk). I am going to beat this son of a bitch.
“The no smoking, no eating meat, no doing anything crowd has the same agenda as the other left wing control freaks. They want to control your life and have you do what they want you to do. It is all about dictatorship and always has been.”
Exactly.
“Got a few posters here who would sign banning dihydrogen monoxide petitions ;)”
LOL!
“Just FYI, it can cause bladder cancer as well.”
I know. Unfortunately.
“I am going to beat this son of a bitch.”
I will keep you in my thoughts. My husband was diagnosed with bladder cancer last summer. Long story short, surgery to remove the bladder, had a new bladder created from a piece of intestine and the plumbing hooked back up. Several rounds of infections and a couple of hospitalizations due to infections later, he’s beginning to feel like he’s on the right track. No chemo was needed, the cancer was confined strictly to the bladder. And that came after a triple bypass last February!
I moved the exercise bike in front of the computer this week. Almost to 11 hours for the week. If I can FReep at the same time, it’s not wasted, right? :p
Time spent Freeping is never wasted.
LOL!! Almost the exact same thing happened to me at a mall.
Can’t wait until the E-Cigarettes and smoke51.com products are used more.
Point being, all the hand wringing and finger wagging from the Smoke-Free whiners about how cigarettes will kill, doesn’t seem to acknowledge the point that there are MANY things out there that will kill you.
These days, even Peanut butter can kill you.
Face it, all this Nanny State crap meant to protect us from ourselves, accomplishes little in regards to actually protecting us from the one thing we all achieve, that being death.
All it accomplishes is allowing any number of various whiners and snivellers a platform from which to inflict their own personal preferences off on everyone else.
You can take perfect care of yourself, don’t smoke, don’t drink, don’t eat fatty foods, don’t eat too much sugar, don’t drink too much coffee, exercise regularly, but, if your number comes up when you step off that curb, all that extra special care and attention you’ve paid will be fully cashed in by that cross town bus.
Sorry Kirkwood, I sense that philosophy doesn’t jibe with your views on smoking, but I refer to what I said before, if you don’t approve of smoking, by all means, don’t do it.
However, until the Smoke Free Nanny Staters get it made illegal, it falls into that terrible thing called Free Choice.
“I will keep you in my thoughts.”
Thank you for your kind words.
What’s sad about Patrick Swayze enjoying cigarettes in the last months of his life? If he decided to quit, he wouldn’t extend his life five minutes. It’s true that once you quit smoking, you become miserable and life SEEMS longer, but Patrick Swayze went out on his own terms.
