Gaunt Patrick Swayze Defiantly Chain-Smokes As He Battles Cancer

Patrick Swayze cut a gaunt figure when he was spotted in public for the first time in weeks. The actor, who is fighting pancreatic cancer, looked gaunt and frail as he defiantly smoked a cigarette while waiting for wife Lisa Niemi in Beverly Hills.

Once famed for his athletic body and steamy routines in the 1987 hit movie Dirty Dancing, the actor now looks a shadow of his former self.

The 56-year-old smoked several cigarettes in under 10 minutes, according to onlookers, puffing big clouds of smoke out of the truck.'He was puffing away and appeared as if he didn't have a care in the world. It's so sad,' said one.

Reports from the US suggest that he has stopped treatment for the cancer, including chemotherapy, after experiencing extreme side-effects such as excruciating dental pain making it impossible to chew food.

The actor blows a plume of smoke out the window of his car, smoking several cigarettes in just 10 minutes

He is believed to have undergone dental surgery to repair his damaged gums and save his teeth.

Both my parents died of lung cancer. My Dad had actually stopped smoking cold turkey about 3 months before he was diagnosed. He stopped smoking, hoping it would help my mother quit. That never happened. My Mom was on oxygen in her apartment for about a month before she died. She used to turn it off, go down the hall into the stairwell, and smoke her cigarettes, then go back and put the oxygen mask back on. We never bothered to say anything because we all knew she was terminal anyway.

Ever read the MSDS on water?

It will kill to, and far faster,

Should we ban that too?

Give it a rest.

Smoke from any source is harmful; limiting our focus to cigarettes is more a matter of social and interpersonal relationships with the system that sets its sights on ordering things.

Cancer needs no trigger from the outside, they merely help.

Bossiness is the absence of accepted authority is merely rudeness.

Hold on, smoking were you will expose others to risks doesn’t make you a rebel against the liberal establishment, it makes you a selfish douche. My grandad was a non-smoker and he died of lung-cancer. If you do it outside, hey, its a free society and its your funeral at the end of the day.
If you do it indoors and force other people to inhale it, I have no sympathy with your feelings of being oppressed by ‘anti-smoking nazis’. That is what most people object to, not what people are doing to themselves....

I live about 45 minutes east of Syracuse. The Carousel Mall there has issued a No Smoking ban, not just for the inside, but the outside as well. No one can smoke anywhere on the grounds, not even in their own cars. They’ve turned the whole mall and the land it sits on into a Green environment. They have more parking spots for people who drive Green cars, than they do handicapped spots. And whenever I’ve gone there, none of the Green parking spots ever have cars in them.

The Carousel Mall there has issued a No Smoking ban,

That would be a ban on not smoking.

In effect, a "smoking mandatory" zone.

I don't really think that is what you meant.

Rather, I think you cannot express yourself properly.

You don’t understand the full breadth of the anti mentality....it just doesn’t stop at cigarettes.

Here’s a website of some hardcore antis.
They want everyone to comply with their wishes and are getting press and legislation through out America

Even a firing squad will give a man a last smoke, but not a liberal. If it helps him feel better, then i hope he doesn’t let them guilt him out.

I’m with you. The people who stop doing everything in the vain hope they will live forever may extend their life a few years, but those years will be void of any living, simply existing. I told one of my brothers that the other day, the clean living, only eat yogurt(and veggies), and deprive yourself of anything enjoyable, brother. He didn’t believe me when I said we were all going to die(actually he does but can’t accept it). The no smoking, no eating meat, no doing anything crowd has the same agenda as the other left wing control freaks. They want to control your life and have you do what they want you to do. It is all about dictatorship and always has been.

Thanks for the correction. Maybe I should take up smoking. It might clear my brain.

If you only have yourself to think of go ahead and kill yourself over smoking.

But if you have a family and they are depending on you, and if you want to avoid risking other people’s health who are around you when you want to light up, or if you already have cancer and want to give yourself the best chance of fighting it properly and winning, then you’d better not light up.

Their are fruitcakes in every cause. I don’t see the link between woodburning and smoking ciggarrettes though...

“but those years will be void of any living, simply existing”

Says you. All life is precious, every day of it. What is “simply existing” to you can be a day full of joy and blessing to another.

Good. It’s also not good for those exposed to second hand smokers too.

Do you drive a car? Burn oil in a furnace? Wear perfume? Eat peanut butter? Or exhale?

Is that why non-smokers cough when around smokers?

Plus non-smokers can always tell smokers - their skin and hair do not look healthy, they smell bad, sometimes from feet away you can smell cigarette smoke on them even if they hadn’t lit up for hours. Sometimes non-smokers can even smell smoke in the cars in front of us when we are stopped at a light, even when the smokers’ windows are up!

Anyone who says smoking isn’t dangerous is ... wait for it .... smokin’ somethin’!

:)
