Others mileage may vary here, but in my experience the folks who complain the most about soccer never played ANY sport at a competitive level.

Those who have played something competitively (i.e. above little league) typically seem understand and respect athleticism across multiple sports; without the insecurity of projecting their own inability to play ball--no matter what type it is.

Please enlighten me. Other than the out of using it as a proper name, please enlighten me as to how "simple" is a noun. Even in the poem "Simple Simon" simple was used to describe Simon, in other words, an adjective.

Never mind. I take it back. Apparently, in the 14th century, simple was used in the sampe manner as simpleton. There, I concede. Apparently, long-ago, it was used to describe a plant that could be used for medicinal purposes.

Neither use is common today.
