Regina sleep well...and let go tonight...
February 2009 | alisasny

Posted on 02/10/2009 5:35:47 PM PST by alisasny

9 years ago I met a lovely woman named Regina..she has brain cancer... 9 years later after an honarable fight she is prepared for death. She has battled her brain cancer for 12 years and now it is time for her to pass.

I wish I had something profound to say but all I can do right now is ask my fellow freepers to pray for Regina but mostly pray for her husband and children.

I believe the name of that wonderful booklet is “Gone from my Sight” by Barbara Kearnes. Not sure though. However, if it is the same one my sister had ... it was wonderful and she said she never could have helped her husband nor herself prepare for his departure without it. Sorry for your loss but you will be together again one day.

What a wonderful friend you are to request the Prayer Warriors to help your friend Regina let go. We will pray she does let go and that she and her family are at peace knowing she will take her final journey...perhaps tonight. God bless her and her husband and sons. What a terrible, terrible loss for them. She will be in a better place and free of all pain but their pain begins now. We will pray for every single one of them for strength to get through this and comfort knowing their wife/mother is no longer suffering. My heart breaks for them.

Sorry for the loss of your beloved mom. I lost mine back in 1985 and STILL miss and think of her every single day as I do my dad. They will ALWAYS and FOREVER be with me as your mom will be with you. Rest in peace wonderful moms and dads who have gone before us and thank you for the love you gave us.

Gone From My Sight
by Henry Van Dyke

I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.
Then someone at my side says: “There, she is gone!”

“Gone where?”

Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.

Her diminished size is in me, not in her. And just at the moment when someone at my side says: “There, she is gone!” there are other eyes watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout: “Here she comes!”

And that is dying.

“I feel it is important to make living with a life threatening illness, dying, death, and grief a graceful process. It is my wish that family, friends, patients & clients experience these with dignity and reduced fear. I think our materials assist in that process.”

http://www.gonefrommysight.com/

Barbara Karnes, RN, award winning hospice nurse and nationally prominent speaker on the dynamics of dying, authored the four booklets on which many providers of end-of-life care rely: “Gone From My Sight: The Dying Experience (The Blue Book),” “My Friend I Care: The Grief Experience,” “A Time To Live: Living with a Life-Threatening Illness” and “The Eleventh Hour: A Caring Guideline for the Hours to Minutes Before Death.” Her book, The Final Act of Living: Reflections of a Longtime Hospice Nurse, is a hospice training manual with heart. It is a resource utilized in universities, for hospice orientation of staff and volunteers, and in end-of-life related areas. It is also useful for any lay reader. Barbara’s 27 year career as an end-of-life educator is predicated on her experience as Executive Director of hospice and home health agencies as well as having worked through the hospice ranks as patient care manager, clinical director, staff nurse and volunteer. From 1989 until 1994 Barbara served as Director of Hospice and Home Health at Olathe Medical Center, a suburb of Kansas City before that Executive Director of Hospice Care of Mid-America in Kansas City, Missouri. Since 1994, she has been educating professionals and lay people through the presentation of workshops and lectures across the country.

Lisa,

God bless Regina. May she and her family take comfort from the Holy Spirit at this time and may her passing be a peaceful one.

Very sad news for such a young woman, but it sounds as though she has a great deal of grace.

God's Blessing to you dear Freeper Friend...
It is so hard to loose our Mother's, I lost my almost 10 years ago and not a day passes that she is not in my thoughts, something always pops up to remind me how much she meant.
May you find PEACE, COMFORT, and STRENGTH in the coming days.

May God our Father grant her a peaceful death, and then take her into His loving arms. And may Jesus walk with her family in their sorrow.
