Good evening everyone, and welcome to the new week's thread.
Our new president will treat us to another exhorting, scolding speech Monday night as the Senate prepares to vote on the Depression and Mind-Boggling Deficit Act of 2009.
Meanwhile Sec Treasury Timothy Geithner, AKA The Treasury's Own Tax Cheat, will unveil yet another bank bailout Tuesday...but that could change...stay tuned.

Hey Q, where have you been! I surely hope you went to visit the “president” today. He’s in your area.

Didn't know that till.
Ari says Pres. Bush did it too - made it soound like it was business as usual.

Congress shall make no law from which members of Congress themselves are exempt.
AMEN brother! Hey, i liked your news about writing to Arlen and supporting his competition! Right on!
To: Miss Marple
They did that in a "modern" school in Fairfax County, Virginia. By the time I got there to teach a Saturday class to 'teens on study skills, the school was old and out dated. No one wanted to go there and parents fought sending their kids to this school. Walls were put up, but the kind th atdid not go to the ceiling. The distractions were awful!
The school was recently remodeled - with regular walls!

President Bush had the questions ahead of time?

My jaw dropped when he said " and
other economists, as if he is one.
I hope Dr. Sowell sets him straight.

As merciless as the press was to President Bush, I find it hard to believe they kept to their script.

That’s an excellent point, kassie.
To: kassie
I really don’t believe that. But I do believe it is possible he was told who to call on before hand.
To: Holding Our Breath
I just think it’s so deceitful. An appearance of random selection only to find out we were duped!

President Bush had a seating chart with the reporter's names. He also avoided calling on the nut cases who had press credentials (Ari had them seated together and referred to the area as "Siberia").
He did not have pre-arranged reporters with pre-arranged questions, which is what we saw last night.

He did not have pre-arranged reporters with pre-arranged questions, which is what we saw last night. Exactly, the press conference was run like a Democrat debate.

Yes! Yesterday, he was an expert on how the Supreme Court should wade into uncharted (and unconstitutional) waters to right the perceived wrongs of 'economic and social injustice'.
Today, he is an economics expert who can see the entirety of recorded history before him and chooses to ignore it in his attempt to 'fix' the economy.
Can you imagine what the result will be when he turns his immense intellect in the health care direction tomorrow???
He seems to have no sense of what his Constitutional 'mission' is. His first (and God-willing, ONLY) term has 'overreach' written all over it... ;-))
To: Miss Marple
Thank you for clearing up my misunderstanding, Miss Marple. (((smile)))
To: Bitwhacker
I pray you are correct on this being his only term. I have to make a decision to weither listen to the news and/or speeches or not try to reiterate what I think I’ve heard. Too many times I’ve gotten it wrong - much to my chagrin.

He did not have pre-arranged reporters with pre-arranged questions, which is what we saw last night. And I would not be surprised, Jane, if you could go ahead and add 'pre-arranged answers' to what went on last night.

I found
this YouTube and thought it was apropos to some of the age-related discussion going on. Not to mention funny as heck.
APPROPRIATENESS WARNING! At the end, an old guy gives the camera the finger. Other than that, it's just funny and related.

I waited last night until after the speech, and visited the old frenchman (who I know watched it and who voted for O). The old frenchman is experiencing buyer's remorse. Bigtime.
