"They hit the door right here and the door flew open," says Mike Hasenei, standing outside his Elkridge home.
His wife, Phyllis, was watching television with her 12-year old daughter when members of the Howard County Police Tactical Team came through the door.
"They had guns pointed at us. You have 25 guys coming in here all dressed in black and all that we saw were their eyes, and they're screaming 'Hands in the air!'"
Members of the team were acting upon a tip that an assault rifle, magazines and hollow-point bullets stolen from a marked police car the night before may be located inside.
Adding insult to injury, when the search led police to a back bedroom where they encountered the familys dog, they opened fire.
Officers found no evidence of the stolen goods after ransacking the house.
At this point a complaint has been logged against the department, but Howard County Police aren't about to admit they were wrong or to apologize for their actions.
"No. We didn't find a weapon in this particular case, said Sherry Llewellyn, a spokeswoman for the department, but that doesn't mean that there wasn't good information that there were weapons there before we had a chance to get inside the house."
Now, Mike Hasenei is waiting on an Internal Affairs investigation into the raid before deciding whether he and his family will take the department to court.
"I'm not gonna sit down and let people walk all over me and say 'sorry' and walk out of my house."

She is beautiful!
Were they at the height of their power?
Just need to use those 100 million before it gets too late (i.e they all get taken away and turned into energy saving vacuum tubes)

I will have to let the local police know that they can relax, as they don't have to be on guard for any threat of ambushes when serving warrants. Thanks for the heads up.
I will dispute your contention as to the reason for the number of these incidents. I believe it's largely because we ask police officers who aren't paid a lot to be targets--all to catch criminals who are released right away. Why should any cop risk his life?
>>”These Gestapo tactics anger and horrify me.”<<
That’s exactly what they’re intended to do in order to keep you in line.
When will it end?
Yep! That's the problem. I am sure there are honest police. You just can't tell the difference by looking.
The daughter's trauma would be an on going rehab and, again making an example out of these idiots who abuse the public trust and their responsibility, a million is just getting started.
Dogs and 12 year old girls should NEVER have to go through this experience. The more I think about it, the more pissed off I get. To serve and protect, my ass. Burn every damn one of 'em and make it hurt. It needs to be personal, not just the department, but the individuals personally.
A phone call in this case would have sufficed. You can try and inject "scarface syndrome" into this but that crap ain't flying.
The psychic for the department had called in sick, so they weren't able to tell in advance that was the case.
...but of course, in normal operations, they know ahead of time exactly what they are facing, so they should never have to risk their lives. How silly of me.
I’m surprised that no one has set up a site called “petkillingcops.org”. Someone should do that to publicize these events, archive horror stories and memorial pages to the slaughtered pets, and name and shame the cops responsible, to the point of putting up their pictures and which precincts they work in. Let’s have a hall of shame for these POS! That 12-year-old girl should be relating her story to Oprah, now there’s a worthwhile cause for an otherwise useless talk show host!
“Why should any cop risk his life? “
Not much risk in killing family pets. Besides, cops are far down the list when it comes to most dangerous professions. Facts are, cops are highly overrated when it comes to high risk professions. Fishermen and construction workers are at much greater risk of losing life.
My BC is what’s called a paddock collie ... she’s a bit shorter than yours and stockier ... she herds sheep around the pens. Yours looks like a field dog, the type that brings the sheep in from the fields ... but he’s a cutie ...
Sorry for the loss of your friend ... my girl does the same thing ... herds ducks and geese. Jumps into the water to herd seagulls ... barks at sparklies in the waves ... cute ...
I’m sure when they bust in your house and shoot your dog because the psychic called in sick you’ll be just as understanding. You are not immune.
Gondring is to JBT’s what Obama is to marxism. Both are obsessed with authoritarian control over the citizenry.
I don’t know about that. I do believe Gondring is jaded by the crime element and doesn’t understand the freedom element. The first SOB barging my door will die, period.
