I will be curious to see if the 4 person secret alliance has legs. I think Taj could also pull in the other 2 guys from her tribe and they would have the 6 to 4 advantage.

It will be interesting to see if they blindside Taj before she gets her hidden immunity idol back. I don't think it is ever a good idea to give that away.

Told my wife as they showed the poles - “No shoes!”

Was right - first five down all had shoes.

Coach - the wussy - basically quit again.

Joe is doing okay and made a full recovery from his injury. He said that he’s not on the jury, so it looks like there will be a Final Two this season.

SURVIVOR RECAP!

Forza (Merged) Tribe: Brendan, Coach, Debbie, Erinn, JT, Sierra, Stephen, Taj, Tyson

Losers: Carolina, Candace, Jerry, Sandy, Spencer, Sydney, Joe

JOE REMOVED FROM GAME DUE TO INJURY

We open at Jalapao after the Tribal Council where they voted out Sydney. Joe is nervous because he now feels like the odd man out. J.T. and Taj talk about how Jalapao had been on a winning streak, but now they've lost the 'pao' from Jalapao.

Over at Timbira, Coach does yoga in a dramatic and cheesy fashion, and proclaims that he's glad the merge is coming soon, since that means he'll be able to play the game for himself and not for the good of the team anymore. He also tells Brendan that he started a samurai thing. Brendan snickers and says to the camera that um, no, the Japanese have been doing the samurai thing for centuries.

Treemail arrives, saying something about a feast. Both tribes meet at the designated location and discover that there is indeed a feast, and it's the traditional merge feast! The tribes are now one. They will live at the Timbira camp.

Stephen is excited - only about the feast, not about the merge, as his team is outnumbered. Coach talks some more about himself and says that the individual challenges should be exciting with all the alpha males. The contestants decide on 'Forza,' the Portuguese word for 'strength,' as the name for their new tribe. Sierra tries to pry information out of old Jalapao on why they voted out Spencer and Sydney, but Jalapao isn't talking.

After the feast is over, the players go back to the Timbira camp. Coach and J.T. go fishing and talk strategy. J.T. tells Coach he's almost certain that Brendan has a hidden immunity idol. Coach starts whining about Brendan being 'deceptive.' Because having a hidden immunity idol and not telling everyone about it is just so unreasonable (sarcasm). Coach and J.T. decide to form a new five-way alliance consisting of themselves, Tyson, Debbie, and Stephen. They plan to target Brendan first, after which they would have a five-of-nine majority.

Back at camp, Taj is worried because Brendan and Sierra haven't talked to her about their secret alliance. But Brendan proclaims to the camera that the Exile Alliance needs to lie low until the numbers drop to seven or eight. At that point, they can rise up and take charge.

J.T. informs Stephen about the new alliance, while Coach talks to Debbie and Tyson. Tyson arrogantly proclaims that he can be a better schemer than Brendan. From his comments, he appears to have hostility towards Brendan because of Brendan's status as a successful businessman.

Erinn and Joe talk strategy as well. Joe shows Erinn where to find the hidden immunity idol, but the hiding place is empty. They realize that someone has already taken it. Does it occur to Joe that perhaps the same situation took place at Jalapao - someone taking the idol before he found the hiding place - and that his idol is a fake? In an interview after the episode aired, Joe claims that he was 90% sure all along that the idol was phony. Is he telling the truth, or is he just covering himself so he doesn't look dumb?

Immunity challenge time! Jeff Probst takes the tribal immunity idol away and reveals the individual immunity necklace. The challenge is simple - hang onto a post for as long as you can. Last one hanging wins immunity.

Stephen is the first one out. Joe follows, and Jeff notes that Joe's knee looks pretty bad. Brendan, Taj, and Erinn then go down in rapid succession. J.T. falls next and now only former Timbira members are left standing. Coach simply jumps off. Just like Roger in the previous Survivor Brazil at the first post-merge challenge, he arrogantly thought he didn't need immunity. Roger ended up being humiliated and blindsided that very night (and he quit the challenge without even getting any food like some of the other players did. HAHAHAHAHA...sorry, can't help it) but unfortunately, Coach will not be getting the same treatment.

Sierra slides down the pole painfully, leaving Debbie and Tyson as the last two standing. Eventually, however, Debbie falls and Tyson wins immunity. Jeff sends everyone back to camp but tells Joe to stay behind, saying that medical wants to take a look at his leg. The doctor tells Joe that he has a serious infection that could enter the bone or, even worse, enter his bloodstream, which could lead to death. It looks like Joe will have to be medically evacuated - but the rest of the players don't know that yet.

The new five-person alliance lies to the others at the campfire, saying they want to take out either J.T. or Joe. Tyson crudely insults Sierra, calling her stupid. He reminds me of the a**hole guys in high school who constantly made nasty, often sexually-related remarks about the girls who weren't in the 'most popular' crowd. Sierra has been smart enough to a) gain the good will of her tribe by building a shelter, b) form a strategic alliance with Brendan, and c) try to get information about Jalapao's voting reasons. Tyson also rants about Brendan's 'sneakiness,' despite the fact that the only sneaky things Brendan's done are the entirely justifiable and smart actions of keeping the hidden immunity idol a secret and forming a secret alliance. Hey, Tyson, you and your little buddies Coach and Debbie are the ones planning to stab Brendan in the back.

Stephen talks more strategy with J.T. He asks J.T. to promise that he'll eventually turn on Coach, Tyson, and Debbie. Heh heh heh. They quickly quiet down as Tyson approaches and claims that he can get Erinn to vote with the five to take out Brendan, although she won't be in on the long-term plan.

Brendan says that he could be in trouble, but he has the hidden immunity idol as insurance and he's not afraid to play it. Meanwhile, Taj, distrustful of Brendan because he hasn't talked to her, agrees to vote against him when asked to do so by Stephen.

Realizing that Brendan might play the idol, the seven decide to split their votes - four for Brendan and three for Sierra, so that they'll all be safe even if Brendan plays the idol. Although it is Stephen who comes up with this idea, when the plan is told to Coach, Coach starts talking to the camera as if the plan was his idea. He arrogantly proclaims himself to be a master manipulator and calls himself the Dragon Slayer because he'll be cutting off the head of the dragon (Brendan). Insert eyeroll here.

Someone is approaching the camp...but it's not Joe, it's Jeff Probst. He tells us that Joe was medically evacuated from the game. Therefore, there will be no Tribal Council tonight.

Brendan lives to see another day. Tyson and J.T. are worried because the plan was dependent on everyone keeping quiet, and in three days someone might talk. J.T. says that someone on Timbira bought themselves three days and they don't even realize it.

A helicopter arrives to pick up Joe, who tells us he's disappointed he has to go out like this. (Joe had surgery on his leg and eventually made a full recovery).

If Coach and Tyson turn out to be the final two, I'm boycotting Survivor forever. (Not really, but I'll be f***ing pissed).

I'll be back on Thursday with next week's preview and picks.

After putting on a “meditation” act for the cameras, Renee utters one of the most idiotic, self evident statements in the history of Survior.

“It’s all about me now.”

LMAO!!!! I was all about “you” from day one, dork face. I’m sure there never has been or ever will be room in your universe for anyone BUT you. Being conceited is one thing, if you have something to be conceited about. Renee may well be the most conceited person I’ve ever seen who has no obvious talents or redeeming values to be conceited about. And I’m being kind.

How about making them cellmates instead?

Hatch is scheduled to be released next month anyway and wants to move to Argentina. Maybe Hugo will take care of him there.

And it’s Thursday once again.

It’s very clear “Coach” could never be a coach to adults.

I wonder if he found a new job yet? Waiting tables in Hollywood?

Interesting question. Of course...maybe he doesn’t need a job bec he won. That would fit in with my “2009: Year of Evil” theory that explains Obama.

It feels like it's been two weeks. Last week's episode just wasn't satisfying due to the lack of tribal council. And I was sad to see Joe go, especially the way he went. He seems like a good guy and he fought hard. And when you add in the fact that jerks like Coach and Tyson, followers like Debbie, and non-factors like Erinn are still in the game, that just makes it worse.

I so hope Coach or Tyson gets the boot tonight, so I won't have to worry about them being the final two.

I think Tyson or Coach will go tonight, I think Tyson. But I actually like Tyson a lot and think he is a great player. Tyson will be gone the first time he doesn’t win immunity is my guess...

I think Coach will be gone in the next 2 or 3 tribals.

I want JT to win at this point...

SURVIVOR PING!

Forza (Merged) Tribe: Brendan, Coach, Debbie, Erinn, JT, Sierra, Stephen, Taj, Tyson

Losers: Carolina, Candace, Jerry, Sandy, Spencer, Sydney, Joe

Episode 8 title: "The Biggest Fraud in the Game"

Brendan and Coach go to war over control of the new merged tribe. Who will emerge the victor? Will the new five-way alliance of Coach, Tyson, Debbie, JT, and Stephen take control, or will Brendan's Exile Alliance rise again?

Reward Challenge: Contestants will be divided into three teams of three people each. We don't know which team everyone is on but we know that Taj and Tyson are on the red team, Erinn is on the white team, and Brendan, Debbie, and J.T. are on the black team. We don't know what the challenge is either (SeeBS provided no promo pictures), but the red team does not win. A river rafting trip is part of the reward.

Immunity Challenge: Contestants will answer (often insulting) questions about each other, then have to guess what the others answered. Each time a contestant gets an answer correct they get to chop another player's coconuts (or whatever they're using this time).

Spoilers (highlight to see):

Reward Challenge winner: Black team (Brendan, Debbie, J.T.)?

Immunity Challenge winner: Coach (saves himself from getting booted)

Voted Off: Tyson (BLINDSIDED)

I'll be back after the show with the recap.

I’m with you on wanting JT to win. Plays the game without being obnoxious. Alas, though, I find Tyson boorish, although not as boorish as Coach (or, as he’s known in my house, Douche).

Last week he really got me — “Call me Maestro.” No, stupid - maestro is a compliment others give to you - not one you give yourself. It’s the equivalent of calling yourself “sir.” Oh what am I saying - Douche WOULD call himself “sir.”

Here’s a question I can ask. What would keep Jeff from putting another idol in the same spot? I mean, if it was me, I would at least look to make sure.
