Who will be the Sole Survivor?
Thanks for the heads up. Think I’ll pass on tomorrows episode.
I watched the show last night and found it interesting. For those who didn’t see it, it showed us the personal dynamics of camp life. Sydney isn’t just another pretty face ... where at least 3 guys failed to get the fire started, she stepped in and got it going. The clip of Brendan and Stephen on Exile was worth the price of admission. Two straight dudes having to spoon to stay warm and the bond that was made (or was it?).
I watched it. It certainly had more new footage than any other recap episode of Survivor, but a lot of it was filler material...for much of it, it was easy to see why it had been cut from the regular episodes. I did enjoy the part at the end when they went a little more into the dynamics of the Exile Alliance.
Watching Coach’s self-promoting behavior was annoying, although I loved Erinn’s line “Who *is* this jackass?” And even after Coach made his little explanation to Sierra about why he treated her the way he did, I still don’t agree with his actions. He needs to realize that Sierra is his tribemate and fellow contestant and not one of the girls on his soccer team that he’s coaching.
After some of Stephen’s comments, I’m not sure he’s all that straight. Too bad he didn’t figure Spencer out.
I *loved* watching Sydney start the fire. I’ve also been the recipient of “Oh, the pretty girl must be dumb and prissy and spoiled.” GRRRRR. Sydney’s fire was a “Yeah! Take that!” moment.
I hope they can pull off the 4 way alliance too and that Stephen has just been talking smack to the camera. Surely he’d realize what a foolish mistake it would not to go with it. Only time will tell.
Maybe I can watch it on line. Wednesday night is Ghost Hunters on SciFi.
Or any sport which messes with your favorite TV shows. lol
It’s Thursday
SURVIVOR PING!
Timbira Tribe (Black Buffs): Brendan, Coach, Debbie, Erinn, Sierra, Tyson
Jalapao Tribe (Red Buffs): JT, Joe, Stephen, Sydney, Taj
Losers: Carolina, Candace, Jerry, Sandy, Spencer
Episode 6 title: "One Of Those 'Coach Moments'"
As we return to real Survivor after a three-week break, will the four-way Exile Alliance hold, or will Stephen decide that his chances are best elsewhere? Taj makes a fake immunity idol - will someone be fooled? And will Coach continue to be a jerk? Considering the title of the episode...
Reward Challenge "When Pigs Fly" Contestants will toss clay pigs through an obstacle course. The obstacles will have been built by the opposing tribe.
Immunity Challenge "Sandstone Shootout" Contestants will use slingshots to shoot at tiles, causing puzzle pieces to fall down. Two members of each tribe will then have to solve the puzzle.
Spoilers (highlight to see):
Reward challenge winner: Jalapao
Immunity challenge winner: Timbira
Voted Off: Joe
I'll be back after the show with the recap.

I knew. :-)
My computer has a virus. It’s giving me some trouble.
Finally!
Thunderstorms in my area. This will be probably be bumped by the weathermen on a thunderstorm 300 miles away
I've always wished the “out” people of both tribes formed a secret alliance after the merge and voted off the power players.
It just might happen this time with Taj and her three followers but I'm still amazed the rest are not starting to pick up on it.
I hope Coach is the first to go, then the bike rider from Utah. Looking forward to more blindsides and I believe the wait will not be much longer. My guess and hope is that Coach goes as soon as he doesn’t win individual immunity.
As much as I’d love to see Coach’s arrogant ass booted as soon as possible, voting him off next would be foolish for Timbira. If they did that they’d reduce their numbers advantage to 5-4. If even one Timbira flipped, Jalapao could take control of the game. Erinn is on the outside of her tribe and she knows it, and she has a connection with Joe because of the time they spent together at Exile. She could flip easily.
It would be smarter for Timbira to vote Joe off first. He’s dangerous because he has a connection with Erinn, and he’s a strong individual challenge threat. Once Joe is gone, Timbira would have a 6-3 advantage and they could get rid of Coach without making themselves vulnerable.
As an added bonus, Joe has Taj’s fake immunity idol, and he thinks it’s real. If he played it at tribal council, that would be GREAT. I LOVE seeing people play phony idols and the looks on their faces when Jeff tells them it’s fake.
SURVIVOR RECAP!
Timbira Tribe (Black Buffs): Brendan, Coach, Debbie, Erinn, Sierra, Tyson
Jalapao Tribe (Red Buffs): JT, Joe, Stephen, Taj
Losers: Carolina, Candace, Jerry, Sandy, Spencer, Sydney
SYDNEY VOTED OUT
The morning after the Tribal Council where Spencer was voted off, Joe and Sydney talk at Jalapao. Joe assures Sydney that she is safe. Over at Timbira, Coach gets picky about cooking the beans, insisting on adding river water just before they're done to make them softer, making the tribe wait several more minutes before the new water boils and the beans are safe to eat. As the rain comes down, Coach joins the others in the shelter instead of finishing cooking the beans. Brendan calls it "another one of those Coach moments." Heh heh heh.
The beans turn out burnt and Sierra complains. Coach tells her in his condescending way not to be mad. Sierra tells him off. You go, girl. Brendan interviews that while Coach's behavior is irritating, it's also predictable, and "predictable in this game is great."
Over at Jalapao, Taj wants to tell J.T. that she has the hidden immunity idol. Real smart, Taj. Stephen wisely tells her not to do it. He interviews that right now, he's the bridge controlling the flow of information between Taj and J.T., and he wants to keep it that way.
Reward challenge. Tribes build barricades, then try to toss pigs through the barricades the other tribe built. Timbira, having an extra member, sits out Erinn. In the challenge, Timbira takes an early lead, but Jalapao soon catches up. In the end, however, Timbira wins with a score of 14 pigs to Jalapao's 13, and earns a trip to a waterfall and a barbecue. Joe and Erinn are sent to Exile.
Timbira stuffs themselves with food and enjoys their day at the waterfall. At Exile, Erinn gets the urn with the clue and realizes that the idols are back at camp. She eventually shares the information with Joe.
Meanwhile, Stephen and Taj realize that Joe will have enough clues to find the idol's hiding place immediately when he comes back. Taj makes a phony idol and puts it in the hiding place at treemail, using the real idol as a model for creating the fake one. Time to hide the real idol again - how about this empty bag? Oops! J.T. is going fishing, grabs what he thinks is an empty bag, and finds the idol. He tells Stephen, who says that Taj showed him the idol a little while ago. With the cat out of the bag, Taj openly admits to J.T. that she found the idol.
Immunity challenge. Each tribe will use a slingshot to try to break a tile and release sand from a tower. The emptying sand will reveal the next tile and release a bag of puzzle pieces. Once each team has broken three tiles, they can start working on the puzzle.
Timbira sits out Debbie, although it turns out not to matter since only a few people actually participate in the challenge. J.T. for Jalapao and Tyson for Timbira are the shooters. They are not required to rotate and neither tribe does. Tyson takes the lead as J.T. shoots poorly. Brendan and Erinn begin work on the puzzle. J.T. finally gets all the bags released and Joe and Stephen start the puzzle for Jalapao. Timbira's lead is too large, however, and they win immunity.
Back at Camp Jalapao, J.T. takes responsibility for the loss, but his tribe tells him not to worry. Joe announces that he's going to get some water. He heads straight for the immunity idol's hiding place and finds Taj's fake idol. Joe celebrates to himself, the thought that the idol might be fake not even entering his mind. Please, please play the fake idol at some point.
Joe and Sydney want to vote out Taj, but J.T. and Stephen are leaning towards voting out Sydney. They discuss the pros and cons of each option and SeeBS tries to make it very dramatic. Of course, now we know that Sydney's going.
At Tribal Council, everyone is worried about going into the merge down 6-4. Jeff Probst asks the tribe about the pros and cons of keeping Taj vs. Sydney. After a few more questions, it's time to vote. In the end, by a vote of 3-2, Sydney becomes the sixth person voted out of Survivor: Tocantins.
I'll be back on Thursday with next week's preview and picks.
