I think the listing for the PowerBook G4 is too inclusive, given the discontinuation dates of the other models. Ars Technica could not confirm the MacMerc information.

Dang it! I guess it’s time to upgrade from the Powerbook G4. Don’t wanna be obsolete.

Any word on where in here the ol' G4 eMac fits in?

Wonder how big a role the economy played in this. Must be harder to justify keeping extra hardware supplies around in this environment, especially for older hardware like the G4.
The good news is that relatively recent Apple products can be had used or refurbed for very good prices.

So...my G3 iBooks are no longer relevant? I mean, just cos they have OS9 and 10.0 (for some reason, cannot load 10.3 back onto them) that means Apple no longer cares? Dangit, I knew once they saw that I got the MacBook Pro, they said “yep, blu has upgraded, kill the old ones! Oh, and make sure she can’t put 10.3 or 10.4 on with Leopard...dammit, if she’s gonna be our fangirl, she’s gonna work for it!”
OK, I get it now. Oiy, why do I feel so bereft?
(for the humor impaired, yah, I know my ibooks were obsolete almost the moment I bought them, but still...they’re like my first car (in guy talk))

Interesting that the PowerBook G4 is listed, but not the iBook G4... Or is that being included in the umbrella of the PB G4? I have the last version of the iBook G4 12”...

I’d heard somewhere (maybe in an FR thread?) that G4 support will be gone in the next dot-number version of OS X.

Any Mac techies want to lend a hand here? My older G5 just had its video card replaced (it was a used part but it saved money over a new card) and since then the machine often doesn't want to recover from sleep mode. The screen just stays black, and I have to kill the power button and reboot. Even then, sometimes I get only a blank blue screen and have to do it again. Then everything’s fine untl I leave the room too long and it hits the sleep mode again.
I'm running OSX 10.4.11 on a 1.6 Ghz machine with 1.25 GB SDRAM. Any ideas?
