In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".

defalcate \di-FAL-keyt\, verb
to steal or misuse money or property entrusted to one's care

Example sentence:
The stockbroker defalcated millions from investment clients.

Etymology:
c 1540, from Latin defalcere, from de- + falx/falcem "sickle, scythe".

The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Despite all their high pronouncements, the DC Democrats never find it difficult to defalcate from the American people, this time around in a "stimulus" bill.  Princess Pelosi and the overrated fecal matter in Congress are more than willing to cede fatal powers to the President and his advisors with this multi-faceted albatross, which will only prolong the current recession and potentially wreck the economy.

Kudos go out to those GOP stalwarts on the Hill who won't let facades like this get rammed through without a fight, although many did face late pressure and schmoozing from the WH in an attempt to get them on board.  Would you believe that any reasonable Representative who claims to promote this Act leafed through the 600+ pages and can say with a straight face that this is the solution to the present problems?

Nevertheless, heat does still escape from your head, and the tips of ears are prone to frostbite.

1 degree this morning when I turned the car on. 4 when I rode into work.

That’s snot-freezing weather.

The Obama administration is defalcating our economy, our savings, and our freedom away.

And defecating all over the taxpayer at the same time.

i think they said more like 20% of body heat escapes through head, when they debunked it. i have a full head of hair covering my ears so i have no frostbite there, and if i had known i would be spending a half hour cooling my heels out in the elements, i would have brought something for my noggin. There is a daycare center in our building and there were parents with toddlers in strollers waiting to get in the building also. i felt really bad for the babes.

You should always dress as if your car was going to break down on a lonely country road, miles from anything. ;-)

You might want to rephrase that, Sweetheart. A definite article would help. :)

Bill Clinton, a man with a foul mate
Barely survived his last gal-gate
But if we talk about stealing
I’ve got a bad feeling
That “Bailout Boy’s” King of Defalcate

Obama did defenestrate
Tom Daschle back to his state
Now will others be
Treated the same as he
Or will they be allowed to defalcate?

Excellent work. A+ for you. My team plays the formerly mighty Ducks here tonight so I have the chance to see Selanne.

I turned off the Pens game after they went down 3-0 last night. I turned it back on in time to see that they tied the game and were heading for OT. Then they scored in the last minute of OT, for a much needed win.
