Curtis Sliwa
Posted on 02/04/2009 6:41:33 PM PST by jenk
Is there a Curtis Sliwa live thread? I can't find one. Just wondering. I am new to listening to him, and would like to learn about him and his show's history from somebody who knows him. He seems like family to me.

and besides, I don’t think the guy ever sleeps, he is used to working 20 hour days like most people drink water, I don’t know how he does it

Jenk,
Curtis Sliwa is a living legend. He founded the Guardian Angels a few decades ago to clean up crime on the streets and in the subways of New York City using Nonviolence. Curtis is a great organizer and a strong personality.
He has turned out to be a pretty good talk radio host as well. What you hear is a thick Bronx accent, real street smarts and a sense of humor.
And by the way Curtis is family to many of us.
Mr Sol.

Well, you just started one. =)
(I added the ‘talkradio’ keyword. That’s important.)

The Bronx? Not even close. Canarsie.
There are very identifiable traits of a working class (White) Bronx accent, Sliwa has none of them.
The pronunciation of 'comfortable' is a dead Bronx give-away, it comes out...kahmf-te-bull.

I can't start a live thread on a guy I've never really heard much of, you do it, or how about doogle or whatever. I gots my 'Low Budget' thread.
By the way, if you'd like to be added to the 'Low Budget' ping list, lemme know.

I have to say, I have a new converter box so that my tv won’t go fuzzy after February 17th. All I can get is 2 PBS channels digitally. How about that shit?

Also, I have to say, that my husband is a union man who is fixin to become union prez in the next few years. Now, don’t tell me that unions aren’t needed. We are both Conservative Republicans. That damn company he works for are all morons. They don’t give a shit that they ask their employees to do dangerous things. They have in the past said that any strike will go to moderation, and their lawyers will get them off. Now, what do you think?

I can't start a live thread on a guy I've never really heard much of.... If knowledge, experience, expertise or common sense was a requirement for posting a thread on FR, well.... Oh, never mind....

Anyone has a right to call a moron a moron. Everyone has the right to free association. No one has the right to tread upon the rights of others. Self defense is an unalienable right.

My husband’s from the Bronx, I’m from Queens. We were at a party in France with some French policemen whose English was limited. Actually, we had been asked to meet with them so they could get accustomed to American accents. After speaking to them for awhile one of them asked me if my husband and I were from different states in America because our accents were so different.

Sliwa has been around since early 80s as a celeb of sorts.
He has been a victim of the gang that can’t kill someone decently of John Gotti Jr
Sliwa is pretty cool cat...more libertarian than conservative
