Good evening everyone.
Statism continues to run amok in Washington.
The O administration is set to soon unveil a Big Bank Bank Bailout...more debt onto debt for as far as we can see.
But a ray of hope: there are hints that some Dems as well as the Rs in the Senate have qualms about the Depression & Huge Deficit Act of 2009 which passed the House last week.
So we shall see.
Meanwhile we can have a lottery: how many Executive Orders will the new president sign THIS week??
Good morning everyone. Golly, is Lindsey up for re-election?
How are you doing anyhow.
Toby
I am sure you spoil them like crazy. That’s the most fun part about being a grandparent.
Hi sweets!!! Hope all is well your way.
prayers for our troops, Ev, JT...safe landings for them all and families too.
It looks like The One is meeting with some families today...folks who lost dear ones in terrorist attacks. That should be interesting as he tries to explain away his actions on that front.
Bit, thanks for posting your comments re: the Scruton article. I still haven't read it...you are so fast!
The title did remind me of an essay I read..20 years ago probably. The essay argued that western culture began to go downhill when it elevated irony & started overvaluing that element in its literature, art, etc. Don't know how that works with Scruton's piece or IF it does.
Will get back to you on that!
You ask how I'm doing, Toby, and there are days lately when I'm not real sure....Like the weather, I run hot (angry) and cold (fearful) about the state this country is in w/the documented liar in the WH.
Like you, I find that reading is my continuing pleasure...planning another trip to the library today. I am really looking forward to SPRING this year...Aren't we all?!!
How’s your daughter doing? And I hope you’re feeling better, Carolina...need to tell you about some books I’m reading sometime...
The really good news for us this week was getting the results of my daughter's PET scan. As you may know, she lost her eye to cancer, but this scan revealed NO CANCER CELLS in her body. She's due for another checkup in May...to keep checking for any return of those little killers.
That is GOOD news indeed. Hugs for you and daughter.

Also (and I am not caught up on the thread) do you know he is moving the 2010 Census supervision to the White House and taking it away from the Commerce Department? Rahm Emanuel will be in charge of reapportionment, it seems. Grrr.
Husband is coming home for a long weekend next Wednesday. We are going out to eat at a nice restaurant and will also visit our accountant for taxes. Very complicated this year since I am here and hubby is in Colorado.
Off I go to check my pings and then clean house. Will check in later today.
Real life these days is so non-fiction that I've been taking a break from serious books and reading novels.
Since I had read Helen MacInnis so long ago, I decided to re-read all 18 of her novels, and so far have finished 8 of them. I like P.D. James too. I am toying w/the idea of re-reading Jane Austen, and I like Joseph Conrad as well.
I was surprised and delighted the other day to discover 2 Mrs. Pollifax and Dick Francis books that I had somehow missed reading before.
Of course, I'll get back to the non-fiction, but there are times when I need and take the escape path to sanity and pleasure.
I am looking forward to Karl Rove's book. Do you have any info about when it might come out? The Forgotten Man has been highly recommended too.
“I’ll get back to the non-fiction...”
That really caught my attention. It’s been a big adjustment to stop watching the news programs but I won’t do it any more. The antidote for the current hysteria caused by O and his team is to read fiction and fun books (for me, anyway).
Oh, what good news for your daughter!! It’s always great when the doctor doesn’t want to see you for several months after an intense period of visits, isn’t it?
Mmm....mmmm! I feel like the dog in the recent dogfood commercial......”bacon!bacon!bacon!”...lol.
A person has to get up early to catch you any more! Do you feel like you live at your job some days? Still testing?
“...continue to bite at President Bush’s heels...”
Their job is hard now that he isn’t there every day to be attacked.
Senator Burris (the fool appointed by impeached Blago) was on radio this morning answering questions about the corrupt O nominees. He used “Let he who is without sin...” quote and said “Who hasn’t made mistakes?”. What a clown. I don’t recall a dem EVER giving President Bush and his team that leeway.
That’s wonderful news, CM.
What a historic project! It’s hard to picture a language in this day and age that hasn’t been put into writing. And now this enormous NT book. What is the best guess as to when it will be printed and distributed?
Oh, here’s a heads up. Just heard that our Secretary of State is planning her first trip abroad. To Japan, China and Indonesia. I knew you’d want to mark your calendar...........just kidding, just kidding! LOL.
Good morning!
Three roosters? Guess you haven’t made that chicken stew yet that you talked about? HaHa......
