Stephen Fowler will live in Wife Swap infamy as the most boorish and abusive of husbands ever to host a swapped wife. The day after this infamous episode the internet is howling. Why? Let me count the ways.
Liberal, upper crust, environmentally conscious, highly educated, weight appropriate San Franciscans were to swap wives with the Missouri small town ATV riding, paintball playing, overweight Middle Americans in the January 30th episode. The show in and of itself pairs couples that hold diametrically opposing views on just about everything from religion to politics to fish sticks; a recipe for conflict and emotional challenge in any situation. Nothing new there. However, the pairing on January 30th for the first time, added abuse to the mix. And that crossed line has gotten the audience into a stark raving tizzy.
Regular watchers know that most husbands on the show hold dearly to their viewpoints. Occasionally they are bombastic about it, but usually the audience member by the show’s conclusion is treated to a release, in that each pair learned something and all’s well that ends well.
In the case of the Fowler-Long swap, husband Stephen Fowler, a Briton, immediately trumpeted his education and intelligence as a license to demean all others he estimates as below him.

Yes. She seemed like a nice woman, and appeared to be embarrassed by her husband. But she didn’t stand up to him at all, and in the little segment at the end she was right there with him, smiling and acting like a happy wife. It was disturbing.
I was a little disappointed that the less than articulate gal he was berating to point out that those uneducated red neck hicks he was mocking kicked his country’s arse across the ocean once and saved his country’s arse not once but twice last century.
When Stephen Fowler says he is into Foreign Cultures, he sure doesn’t seem to be receptive to a”Foreign Culture “ from Missouri.
She wasn’t articulate, but she sure did not deserve what she got from that liberal elite weasel.
I watched the show too.It always seems this show belittles the patriotic,or homeschool families.ABC is trying to put these families in a certain class.It is so very wrong.

Steven Fowler has ran himself into the ground. I would not be surprised if their business is out soon.
Fowler was just reading from the script they gave him, so called ‘reality shows’ are just about as real as wrestling.
However, to insinuate that Stephen Fowler's narcissistic performance was scripted is utterly false. As a producer, I would likely identify his personality disorder and then encourage him to do certain things (’’lead’’) and even suggest things to say (’’feed’’). One can only work with what the person has to offer - and Stephen Fowler truly is one great ‘’piece of work’’. He is not scripted - he is authentic (authentically insecure and self-loathing with a self destructive Narcissist Disorder), trust me on this.
As a post-script, it is very likely Stephen Fowler sought editorial control after the fact, since the Idiot Stick tried to control the actual production and FORMAT of the show.

That shed a little light on the subject. My heart goes out to Mrs. Fowler and those poor children. Mrs. Long’s ordeal was over in two weeks. Poor Mrs. Fowler and her children are stuck with that guy 24-7.
People do shows like this for their 15 minutes of fame and many do it for free publicity for their business. I think Fowler’s wife promoted her business alerting people she would be on.
Look at New York City housewives, each one of them promoted their business while they put their children’s lives out there for public scrutiny. While they all air their dirty laundry they mention, this is what I do, buy from me.As a capitalist personified I agree with free advertising when you can get it. But not at the expense of your children or your integrity.
Obviously Fowler feels he is better than everyone and he cannot see beyond that so he never dreamed the show would turn out badly. That show will be aired for years and he will never escape. Wife swap did us all a favor in vetting this guy out for all to see and refuse to contract with any of his business.
My suggestion to Fowler, if you hate America so badly do not expect to make your wealth here. How hypocrtical of you to read your resume of one of achievement made in America and then walk all over the flag. Go home and take Obama with you.
And Fowler, if your mother never taught you this, If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all. You Sir, look to be years older than you are. Maybe a couple of pounds would do you good. We also find out you are a liar. Personally someone who touts healthy lifestyle should show the results physically. And someone in business should not be known as a liar.
