I had only 4. Two have died. One gal and one guy left.

My mother had 5 sisters and they all lived in the Fresno area.

Until my grandmother died, we were always together. After she died (when I was in high school) we only got together with Aunts and cousins on holidays. But there so many of us that we always had lots of fun. I think I am about 20 years older than the youngest and was 3 years younger than the oldest. Each of us had at least one cousin approx same age as us.

That sounds so neat, Amy, really a lot of fun. I think it was that way for my mother growing up a farm in Nebraska, lots of good times with same-age cousins.

Today, Marissa had a root beer float with vanilla ice cream. She likes Strawberry Cheesecake ice cream and Mint Chocolate Chip. My two favorites are Butter Pecan and Jamoca Almond Fudge. I think Rite Aid’s Thrifty ice cream is as good as Baskin Robbins’.

A little familiar story: (my son emailed to me today)

The names have been changed to protect the. . .well. . . to cover up the foolishness of it I guess. . .

Teaching a fifth grade class about the presidential election, a teacher decided to have an election for

a class president. The class selected several nominees, and from those, Jim and Dan were picked

to run for top spot.

Jim was in the honor program and had organized several charity events to raise money for special

field trips in the past years he was at the school.

Dan on the other hand was new in the school, average grades, and hadn’t really taken part in

volunteer programs or extracurricular activities.

The candidates would make a campaign speech, and the class would vote for which one they liked for president.

The day arrived when they were to make their speeches.

Jim went first-had specific ideas about making improvements in the class and school and ended by

promising to do his very best. Everyone applauded.

He sat down and Dan came to the podium. His speech was concise.

He said,”If you will vote for me, I will give you ice cream”, and he sat down.

The class went wild. “Yes, Yes, we want ice cream”.

He surely could say more. But he did not have to. A discussion followed.

How did he plan to pay for the ice cream? Would his parents buy it, or would the class pay for it? He didn’t know.

And the class didn’t care, all they were thinking about was ice cream.

Jim was all but forgotten, Dan won by a landslide.

One of my nephews came home Tuesday (Yipee!). We’ll be getting together this weekend. The other comes home in a couple more months.
