Director Ridley Scott has signed up to produce the big screen remake of 1980s TV show The A-Team, according to industry paper Variety.
The film, due out in 2010, will be updated so that the army veterans will have fought in the Middle East and not in Vietnam, Variety adds.
It says Joe Carnahan will direct and hopes to make a "popcorn movie" that "reflects on the real world".
The cult TV show starred George Peppard as Hannibal and Mr T as BA Baracus.
Dirk Benedict, as Face, and Dwight Schultz, as Murdoch, completed the quartet of mercenaries "accused of a crime they didn't commit".
Carnahan said 20th Century Fox had asked him "to make it as emotional, real and accessible as possible without cheesing it up", Variety added.
Actors including Bruce Willis and Ice Cube have been rumoured to be on board but no names have been confirmed.

LOL! Anoreth can change oil; she took auto shop in college last semester. If she's not taking on-line courses in summer school, I can confiscate her laptop and let her have it back after she's taken her sisters to the pool ...

oops ~ that image was a little big!
Mr. T is big!
I'd rather see John Malkovich or Billy Bob Thornton.
Clooney already had a shot as a Hannibal-like character in "Three Kings" which was kind of like the "A-Team" meets "Kelly's Heroes", but not as good as either. I like the notion of Bruce Willis.
They interviewed Ice Cube last year about his dream role, and he said B.A. would be it. I think he would be great in the role.
Billy Bob has the frame and the oddness factor for the role.
His character in "Bandits" with Bruce Willis had me laughing so hard my sides hurt.
That is actual size.
If I recall T is actually about 5-10. It’s pretty noticable in the Rocky film, though they had him on boxes and stuff like that.
I would like to see a BIG BA. Ice Cube doesn’t do it for me.
I would prefer Dweayne “the Rock” Johnson, but I suppose he may be too light.
I like that casting.
And I’ll take the dude from “Thanks for smoking” as “Face”: Aaron Eckhart. He’s already been a con-man in that movie.
“The Rock” was in Scorpion King, right? He has a cute smile.

Yes. I hadn't seen the remake of "Bad News Bears" because I thought it wouldn't be as good as the original. It was on TBS not long ago and I decided to watch it. While it wasn't as good as the original, Billy Bob did a nice job.
