Damon slams Bond and isn’t that keen on Bourne either!

Matt Damon always comes across as such a mild mannered chap and I’m quite surprised to read he’s taken time out to slam the Bond franchise. Speaking with the Miami Herald, he trampled the world of Bond and indicated his all round displeasure for the world in which our top agent has his roots firmly based.

"They could never make a James Bond movie like any of the Bourne films. Because Bond is an imperialist, misogynist sociopath who goes around bedding women and swilling martinis and killing people. He's repulsive."

Fair enough Matt, I actually don’t mind any of those qualities and the more of them we actually see in this sanitised politically correct world the better as far as I’m concerned. He went on to say...

It is Hollywood that ruined the books.

I agree - the movies are a big disappointment compared to the books.

I always suspected that he found bedding women repulsive in its itself.

My favorite scene in “The Departed” was the ending scene.

Seen the movie, great movie. And if I were in that same situation as the movie’s daughter,I would want my dad to do exactly the same thing. Not Damon. The day will come when Damon and the rest of his ilk will have to come to grips with the truth about terrorists.

Of course, Damon must have read the novels and understands that Bond is a complex character, orphaned as a young boy and ultimately ends up in a world where he is expendable asset. Bonds loves very few people, because everyone he has loved, he is prone to lose. And Bond doesn’t treat Moneypenny like trash - people underestimate the symbolic nature of their relationship.

Quite judgmental for a liberal, Damon is.

More of a Jack Bauer fan myself these days. Now there's a guy who knows how to get things done.

Do either Bond or Bourne have a loophole in a torture executive order named after them?

Matt, you do know that you sound like a college freshman on Christmas break parroting your Marxist professor's ideas to you unsuspecting parents? You yourself delivered a great monologue in "Good Will Hunting" about knowledge-without-understanding. I guess you didn't understand it, huh?

In all fairness to Damon, he probably thinks SPECTRE is a real organization.

Hugo Drax had a real global “solution” in Moonraker, he did.

And Jimmy Bond violated his rights to a fair trial under international law.

Yeah, but a martini swilling imperialist tends to lose control sometimes.

Translation: "You b*st*rds! How come you never asked me to play Bond???!!!"

Daniel Craig's is a whole new Bond, though. After Munich and Defiance it's hard not to think of his Bond as one really tough Jewish guy.

Sure Matt. Bond is a misogynist imperialist running-dog lackey of the capitalist oppressor class. Actors (sigh!) - what don’t they know?

About as accurately put as could be done.

What would Matt Damon know about Jason Bourne? The movies didn’t even come close to the story line of the books.

Jason Bourne in the books was a sympathetic, rather sad actually, character, who the reader could actually care for.

In the movies, I found myself pulling for the other guys to just shoot him.

Is that anything like a martini swilling Kennedy?

I found Matt Damon’s portrayal of Jason Bourne to be about as life-like as Arnold Schwarzenneger’s “Terminator”. Just relentless action — almost mindless.
