How to do a search:
Search functions:
1) Click on "everything" in the "browse by forum" box to show all forums
2) Select the most unique word in the title of the article you want to post.
3) Enter that word alone in the 'search' box, and select 'By title', and hit 'Search'
3a) Direct URL for searching: >> http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/search?m=all;o=time;s=(your unique word)
4) This will find a duplicate 99% of the time.
I see people complain about it all the time, but I rarely have a problem. The key is just to keep your search simple, as you stated, with a keyword instead of the entire title.

(teehee!) ;o)
The people that “complain about it all the time” are chronic reposters that get some kind of orgasmic pleasure out of posting the ...5th 6th 7th... instance of the same article.
—thanks—do you know how to limit the Google search to dates?—I’d like to check out some early posts of mine—(it doesn’t seem to work to put name+2001, for example—)
I browse through the articles and if its something I am not interested in or something I have already read, I move on to the next article. It really is that simple.
I haven’t figured that one out yet. When I search using Google, I get what I need on the first page usually.
