Is this scary or what? (Vanity)

Watching some selected news last night, it struck me that this is the first time that I can remember (or at least, when I cared about politics) that we have a government that is the closest to the Soviet Union's or a banana republic or an African state (am not referring to the color of the new Prez's skin). Am I wrong? When a tax cheat is OK'd by a bi-partisan group of senators - it drove home the fact that there is NO STOPPING the government from doing ANYTHING they want. I may seem naive in my just figuring this out but CRIPES! This is the reality of things and it scares me to death!

I dunno - the voters kept a murderer in the Senate for forty years - hopefully, his head will explode soon and he will meet his maker...and his actions will no longer be “inexplicable”...

I’m afraid that you’ve taken the blue pill, hope you like very deep rabbit holes. That’s why I’m in Spain as we speak.

It’s been drifting continually that way since Reagan left office.

I was similarly disabused of my last notion of democracy and capitalism when the Bush Administration nationalized everything in sight, and Bernanke committed to printing as many pieces of paper as necessary.

It’s going to have to get a lot worse before it can get better. It took a Carter to get a Reagan.

I remember Henry "Scoop" Jackson, Hubert Humphrey, Harry Truman -- I knew the Democratic Party. The Democratic Party was a friend of America. The Rat Party is no Democratic Party.

In the 1970s the New Left radical street rabble took over what used to be the Democratic Party. Many Democrats fled the Party and became Republicans. Many rank-and-file, basically apolitical Democrats IMO still do not know that it's no longer the Democratic Party.

These radicals and their ideological issue are loyal to their America not ours. As so many have pointed out we are already in a civil war, IMO.

My fear is of the "it all counts toward 30," "just following orders" government employees. The Rat Party needs them to remake "America."

A tax cheat confirmed by the Senate cheating tax laws written by a tax cheat in the House.

What a country!

True, true - I too remember those days and though they had the majority, I don’t recall the FEAR that this situation caused. Definitely their Grandfathers’ Dem party - the present one is on ACID...

It took a Carter to get a Reagan.

After Carter, I knew a Democrat would not get elected President for at least two generations. I couldn't anticipate the Ross Perot factor.

Nope you’re right.

Not only do we have a fraud as pResident, but all the people he’s selected for his cabinet are hard core America hating leftists.

ken salizar: Interior Secretary is opposed to offshore drilling even if gas prices reach $10 a gallon.

steven chu: Energy Secretary said just last year: “We have to figure out a way to boost gas prices to the levels they are in Europe.” That means he wants gas to be at least $8 per gallon.

eric shinseki: Veteran Affair’s Secretary single handedly screwed the Army over by foisting the totally uselless Stryker upon it. He is hated by the military, as well as veterans (such as myself) who had the displeasure of serving under him.

eric holder: Attorney General thinks that people do not have the right to own guns.

hillary clinton: Zero experience as a diplomat.

hilda solis: Labor Secretary is very pro-union to the extent of wanting to extend union protections to illegals. She is also a member of the “reconquesta movement” which seeks the return of the entire American Southwest to mexico.

And the list goes on and on.

Yep, when a tax cheat gets put in over the tax department, it’s a Banana Republic as far as I’m concerned.

I think Obama won’t be historical just for the color of his family’s skin, but for the most corrupt White House in history. I just hope we survive it.

Of course the government can do whatever it wants and is totally out of control. Began to be more obvious in the 1920s and goes down hill from there. You are witnessing the crash and burn portion.
