Please. . . add me to this list.

It’s a perfect place to “hang” for the next four years!

Please, please add me to the list.

With what they have available, this is the best they could do?

Maybe Michelle can be a Project Runway project...

How can they say that MO is the new Jackie Kennedy? I never saw Jackie in a patterned dress. Jackie always looked elegant. I loved Jackie’s inauguration gown. And I remember Jackie looking especially beautiful when she visited Paris with President Kennedy and when a famous cellist performed at the White House. Any picture of Jackie to compare with Michelle?

IMO, the dress looks good on her, she looks freezing cold, but not bad. In the close-up the dress is more flattering. See the women behind her in the seats? THEY know how to dress in church.

Not understanding why she doesn’t take cues from others and dress more classy. Maybe she was more tom-boyish as a kid. (but then so was Sarah Palin and look how she turned out)

Please add me to the ping list. Drapes, upholstery, bedspread, now drop cloth.

One word pretty much sums up her wardrobe:

gaudy
–adjective, gaud⋅i⋅er, gaud⋅i⋅est.
1. cheaply showy in a tasteless way; flashy.
2. ostentatiously ornamented; garish.

Please add me to the list. I’ve seen that pic of Carol Burnett in the old Gone With the Wind skit wearing the drapes alot since yesterday, in reference to the First Lady’s unfortunate wardrobe choice. If the Obamas were Republicans, there would be a skit on SNL this week featuring an Urkel look-alike as Obama, sitting at a desk in a hotel room writing his inauguration speech. Drapes would be missing from one of the windows. Michelle would come in wearing an outfit made from the drapes, just like Carol Burnett. Behind her, the mother-in-law would enter. The two of them would be yelling at Urkel/Obama to hurry up or they will be late for the inauguration. We will not see any such skit this weekend or ever on SNL....

And the press gleefully weighs in:

You want to resist the urge to fixate on each and every thing Michelle Obama wears, but it’s difficult when she keeps coming out in stunners like the 1950s style dress she wore to the National Prayer Service this morning at the National Cathedral. It’s by Tracy Feith, an under-the-radar, New York-based designer who is known for his haute hippie surf style and his prints. He has a collection launching at Target in May. The dress is cheery, and reasserts her youthful, feminine approach to fashion.

Hippie surf style for the First Lady! And this designer will soon be at TARGET. LOL.

I disagree. Too many women wear suits, thinking they need to do so to be taken seriously by men in business or political situations. This was obviously not an event for which the 'power suit' would be necessary.

A nice dress will never go amiss, but that one doesn't cut the mustard.

Absolutely no reason it must be a suit. But the style of the dress should be more understated, more tailored, and with a higher neckline, and a fabric such as wool or crepe, a modest daytime look. Michelle’s is more like a tea dress, not suitable, but that’s because of the style, not because it’s a dress per se. And of course it goes without saying she should have a simple hat. Absolutely a hat. Gloves too, to be completely proper, but that level of decorum is just not observed anywhere anymore I guess, even in church.

Thanks for reminding me what it's like to be a “girl”. I had forgotten in the press of life some of my more cherished pastimes. I did so enjoy being one. Merci, beacoup.

Does anyone have the picture of the Obamas registering their girls into school? You know the one where Michele is wearing a skull cap?

I was telling a friend about it and said I would try and find it on the web. I can't!
