As an aside, just a personal thought, she has to walk a thin line in her position. Not only will she need to highlight American designers, but there are ethnic considerations, as well. Trying to look “chic” as we have been accustomed to, would tend to bring criticism down on her head with some REALLY devastating epithets. I can think of two right off the top of my head.

The one truly attractive outfit Ms. Obama has worn through the inaugural festivities was to the concert at the Lincoln Memorial on Sunday. Everything else has been wretched.
Someone needs to get her a fashion advisor. She is now FLOTUS and can’t wear ‘just anything’ as she did before.
Poor Michele, maybe she doesn't shop and orders her clothes from catalogs and is too lazy to send back what doesn't fit.
I can't believe having worked in a prestigious law firm that she doesn't know what is appropriate to wear. Yesterday her daughters were dressed like little ladies and looked darling... Which tells me she knows but doesn't care and doesn't want to look too much like white establishment. I agree with the comment the dress looks like a summer dress to wear to a garden party.

No, as I posted on another thread, that her dress is made from the dining room curtains I threw out when I moved into the lastest house. True! Wish I had saved a picture of them.

I’m reluctant to rag on Michelle, because she obviously has multiple problems with fashion related to her build. Plus she simply has no grace.
She looked best by far in the simple, long sleeved, solid color dresses and suits she wore on occasion during the campaign. She could learn to keep her shoulders back and perfect her lumbering walk with arms swinging.
I have a feeling she also enjoys good food and I can relate to that. She’ll never be model skinny and that’s a good thing.
Both she and Obama are much better looking when they smile.
Now that I have read through the thread, I have to say I agree with all the others who commented upon her posture. Proper posture in and of itself would improve just about anything she were to wear. She is not an unattractive woman, she just happens to be big and her poor posture only emphasizes rather than diminishes her size.

Oh I didn’t say he didn’t love her, but look at some of the pictures a little closer and the look he gives her it’s quite apparent he’s pissed.
