Blaming Rush Limbaugh and Conservatism for Republican Woes (McCain only blames Conservatives)
Human Events ^ | 1/21/09 | A.W.R. Hawkins

Just when you thought Senator John McCain and his crew had finally left the scene after getting pounded last November, at least one prominent McCain operative has crawled out of his bunker long enough to blame McCain’s loss on Rush Limbaugh and conservatism.

That’s right. On January 15, 2009, McCain campaign manager Rick Davis appeared on BBC’s “Hardtalk” and credited McCain’s loss to “the Rush Limbaughs of the world who…literally almost feed the nativist attitude toward immigration reform” and the exclusivity of conservative principles.

So the McCainiacs are still trying to blame the 2008 disaster on everyone except themselves and their candidate. If you’ll remember, in the initial days and weeks after the election they were spinning the idea that it was Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin’s fault that McCain lost. Members of the McCain campaign dumped on her and McCain was nowhere to be seen. “Big Mac” proved to be but a “small fry” as he failed to come to her defense even once.

McCain ran the worst campaign I’ve ever seen. He has noone to blame but himself being himself. imo.

Ugh. John McCain needs to realize his 15 minutes of fame are way past over. I once again call on our friends in Arizona to vote this clown out should he run for re-election, even if it means voting for a real Democrat.

**Just vote 3rd party whenever and whereever the Republicans nominate a RINO for any office.**

Which leaves me the choice... to vote Republican or Libertarian. I have 2 points that I disagree with the L’s. I now have a good DOZEN points that I disagree with the R’s.

It appears that it may be easier to change the L’s 2 points than to attempt to change the RINO party.

To those of you who say “You wasting your vote”... fine .. if I don’t have a CONSERVATIVE to vote for... I”LL GO FISHING. and save my vote for LATER??? IF the USA it going to go to HELL, I would rather a LIBERAL be at the wheel!

Last week Rush Limbaugh said he felt like he was the only Conservative left in the Republican party.

He may be. I know I'm a conservative but I'm no longer a Republican.

I reckon this was why McCain played up his support for Amnesty so much during the campaign. Heh.

I agree. McCain came across as a weak old man and they needed a young, vibrant candidate to go up against “Change and hope”.

Rick Davis's failure is everyone else's fault.

Typical 4 year old.

The only people John McCain has to blame are his campaign advisors and himself.

Absolutely correct. John McCain was the candidate at the top of the ticket, not Rush Limbaugh. Rush Limbaugh was not running the McCain campaign, his managers and advisers were. For whatever reasons, they did not persuade a majority of voters to cast their ballots for the McCain ticket. The failure for that rests with the candidate and his campaign. They need to man up and understand and admit that, to themselves if not others.

I held my nose and voted for McCain, and now with each passing day as this man or one of his designee's opens their mouths to blame someone else, I become more and more embarassed that I voted for him.

In the end, the majority of conservatives supported McCain with our votes, if for no other reason than we knew the alternative would be worse. But instead of acknowledging this and being thankful for our support, they turn around and slap us in the face. What kind of thanks is that? I mean, who do they think cast all those tens of millions of votes for them, liberals?

So yes, I wish these people would just go away. They lost, and because of that we lost. The country has lost. Time for a new batter to step up to the plate. The guy who struck out goes back to the dugout, or maybe leaves the game. But the team plays on to the end. This is where we're at now. Shuffle the lineup and keep pitching.

The attitude among Beltway Republicans is the Conservatives are the past and should be purged from the party.

The overwhelming belief of both parties is that Government is the answer since the general population is far too stupid to function without extreme supervision.

Judging from the individual who became President yesterday, the too stupid argument might be accurate.

No doubt Rick Davis played a big part in the trashing of Sarah Palin.

He’s trying to move blame away from himself and McCain.

But the heart of the matter is this trashing of Palin is coming from John McCain. Not directly, but indirectly.

Did anyone in the forum hear McCain’s daughter this morning on Fox News? Hear her ‘answer’ to a question by Gretchen Carlson about the continuing attacks on Governor Palin?

It was revealing. It caused me to remember a scene from the ‘Godfather’ to be honest.

‘Until this day, I did not know it was Barzini all along’.

This stuff is coming from John McCain, folks.

After a loss an honest, reasonable person seeks within themselves what choices they could have changed.

Self absorbed cretins blame others.

‘Megan McCain this morning refused to comment on Sarah, period. Wondering what that is about.’

It told me this stuff bashing Palin is originating with her father.

Here’s the deal, Obama is already in office and will do all the damage the socialists want. Therefore, there is NO REASON to run anything but a true conservative at the next opportunity. No more decrying that we can’t have ideological purity, or that conservative just need to shut up and play the good soldier.

I got news for you, the RINOs have destroyed the Republicans. I will NEVER, EVER vote for another RINO - EVER! If they want to regain political power, this they will have to ride along at the back of the bus, or else they can henceforth go it alone.

Kind of a weird complaint from someone whose campaign slogan was "country first". Next time, try having a coherent message.

‘The attitude among Beltway Republicans is the Conservatives are the past and should be purged from the party.’

Yep, and you know what the irony is here?

Guys like Chris Shays who believe it just got FIRED from their respective offices.

Look around the House of Representatives. The real ‘blood letting’ last November was among MODERATES that bashed Conservatives.
