I need to suck-up to my boss.
He is a scotch drinker. I know nothing about scotch.
What can I purchase for him that will really impress him?
Suck up to the suits and throw members of the team under the bus.
A good scotch drinker probably likes other things as well. Like B&B or another.
Look here Glenn, the first rule of being a suck-up is NOT looking like a suck up. What do you think giving Scotch looks like?
Use your brain - buy the guy a cigar, and one for yourself. Never met a scotch drinker who didn’t like a good smoke with it.
25 yr old Chivas..
Dewars!
If nothing else you’ll get the point across!
My personal favorite (and I consider the biggest bang for the buck) is single malt dalwhinnie scotch.

I would forgive you for whatever transgression occurred.
Padraig
You haven’t tried Laphroiag, have you? It’s over the top. Very distracting.
I’d never spoil a good scotch by cutting it with water. Some are best seasoned over ice, and some neat. Neither works with Laphroiag, which tastes like it was strained through burnt potting soil.
Blech. Expensive blech at that.
I was thinking more along the lines of “Inver House” last I saw was $6.99 for magnum.
I'll add: Glenlivet, Laphroaig.
But if you're going total suck-up, Johnnie Walker Blue is an express ticket. Gold and are good, too.
BTW, this worked for me the one time I tried it.
When it comes to scotch, I offer Glenfiddich to my guests. I don’t how it ranks though.

The good news is that these days, there is much quality to choose from. Here are some choice brands:
Laphroaig: This 10-year single malt from the Islay region of Scotland ranks high on the scale of many critics. The nose and flavor packs a punch but rewards the taster with silky traces of peat and smoke. The heady, almost spicy finish loiters on the palate for quite a while. This is not a single malt for novices.
Macallan 30 Years Old: This is an extraordinary example of superior single malt. Most single malts with the Speyside Macallan name will serve you well, but the 30 Years Old is a rich blend of savory citrus and hints of sherry. The attractive deep mahogany color is indicative of the years spent in oak casks from Spain, and the long finish is clean and warm. A great cigar and fireplace Scotch if ever there was one.
Talisker 10 Year: This powerful 91.6-proof single malt, from the rough but beautiful Isle of Skye in the Inner Hebrides, is the pure essence of the remote Highland geography that produces it. With bold yet sweet undertones, the proof gives hints of pepper and a passionate taste of the sea. A real treat.
Go out and buy twelve bottles of different single malt Scotches. Send them to me.
Wait 14 days. I'll submit the recipe for a proper blend of the supplied Scotches.
Then you can go and supply your boss with a proper blend.
If it has to be a blend, I can be happy with Pinch. It’s actually very decent. The rest are a waste of time.
My prefernec is the Chivas 21 year old scotch, it is not cheap but it might not win any favors either. I appologize for beinf so flippant.
Couldn’t agree more. I’m partial to the Upmann Tubos.
Culpepper. Belongs to my bootlegger cousin.
Everything else is a pathetic imitation.
Do they allow that delivery in your current abode?
Amazing.
