"When WHITE stands up for all things right"
SAME DIFFERENCE
I find the comments offensive and also troubling that we now have a President who seems to be supportive os racism. Race relations have now been set back 40 or more years....
Is anyone surprised to see racism at BO’s inaugural? I’d be surprise if it hand’t been there, given what we know about the First America Haters.
I am very very very offended!
I have been an advocate for the end to racism all my life and marched for equal rights and NOW THIS CRAP???
What about those white, Jewish boys (Schwerner,et all) that died in Mississipi? Who did he think Abe Lincoln was??
what about all the white people who made this day possible.
this Lowery is no “reverand” he is a scumbag, fomenting the racism that sharpton, Jackson and the Black Panthers did!
Great uniter Obozo, tell me you all did not know this creep was going to say this! Don’t come to me and lecture me on ‘uniting” you two faced liars!
Next time I’ll tell you how I really feel.
He had to make up for all the lack of rhymes in that sorry excuse of a poem that preceded him.
hehe
Its hate whitey again. The theme for the Oministration?
I’m not offended by it , I knew for a long time if they got there chance they would act this way , but everytime I said something about it I was called a bigot by some people on this forum, but again I’m not living in la..la..land either , I’m not a racist But I be damn if I’m going to listen to there bullshit about how bad they have it or been mistreated, then over half of white america votes them in and they still act this way. kiss my ass.for those that voted for him when you lose your homes ,jobs , benefits , rights ,american values go straight to hell. I do not want to here you cry.you deserve it
OMG was this written by an elementary schooler?
I have never been as personally angry as I am now at a President. It was bad enough that Joe Biden accused me (not personally, but my demographic) of being selfish and unpatriotic....but now I’m racist? I try to live morally and generously...but I’m judged because of the race of my parents!? Below is the body of a letter I’ve written and plan on sending to the White House tomorrow. Not visceral, but I hope they understand they stepped in it with this act.—
Dear Mr. President:
To say the least, Im highly offended by the words used in your closing benediction, when white will embrace what is right. How racist! Im sure this was reviewed prior to the ceremony and it shows to me a divisive and hateful spirit.
Well, this letter is from someone who cannot change the color of her skin, and desires to be judged by the content of her character. I have never written to the President before, and I hope to never feel compelled to do so again.
I have every respect for the office of the Presidency and I expect my position as a responsible citizen of the United States would be honored and respected as well.
“When black will not be asked to bet back, when brown can stick around...” is taken from a song written by blues singer Big Bill Broonzy entitled “Black, Brown and White” or “Get Back.” Stalinist balladeer Pet Seeger cut a recording of this tune on the Charter record label in 1948.
Me sniff zotness.
This little song that I'm singin' about,
People, you all know that it's true,
If you're black and gotta work for livin',
Now, this is what they will say to you,
They says: "If you was white,
You's alright,
If you was brown,
Stick around,
But if you's black, oh, brother,
Get back, get back, get back."
I was in a place one night,
They was all havin' fun,
They was all buyin' beer and wine,
But they would not sell me none.
They said: "If you was white,
You's alright,
If you was brown,
You could stick around,
But as you's black, hmm, hmm, brother,
Get back, get back, get back."
I went to an employment office,
I got a number and I got in line,
They called everybody's number,
But they never did call mine.
They said: "If you was white,
You's alright,
If you was brown,
You could stick around,
But as you's black, hmm, hmm, brother,
Get back, get back, get back."
Me and a man was workin' side by side,
Now, this is what it meant:
They was payin' him a dollar an hour,
And they was payin' me fifty cent.
They said: "If you was white,
You'd be alright,
If you was brown,
You could stick around,
But as you's black, oh, brother,
Get back, get back, get back."
I helped win sweet victories,
With my plow and hoe,
Now, I want you to tell me, brother,
What you gonna do 'bout the old Jim Crow?
Now, if you is white,
You's alright,
If you's brown,
Stick around,
But if you's black, oh, brother,
Get back, get back, get back.
I thought Lowery's rhyme was in poor taste and not appropriate for the occasion. But it's a Reverend Wright thing. Lowery's 87 and his thought patterns were formed a long time ago. Still, someone should a vetted and rejected that part of his benediction.
He’s right, white did not stand up for what is right. They let this man who has no experience get to the highest elected office simply because he is, sort of, a black man. White most certainly did not stand up for what is right, at least some white people did not.
Note: the Dunkin Donut people ( I was in the drive-thru ) had to wear Obama shirts today..and the Rev's color remarks had the two ladies hanging out the window saying.."I am not surprised" in disgust.... as it was on the radio at that time.
Your kidding me. They have been able to get any seat on the bus for at least forty years. Do I detect incurable racism?
“Your kidding me. They have been able to get any seat on the bus for at least forty years. Do I detect incurable racism?”
YBYSA it is.
It sounded retarded to me. This guy is a Reverend? Its childish doggerel. And that poem that woman read? Some thing, very low intellect. Be an ‘interesting’ 4 years, we are going down the tubes...
Nothing more than a two bit, sophomoric, Jesse Jackson type limerick.
BHO should be embarrassed, and if he isn't, I am for him!
OK, but if some one is wrong, you need to let them know that they are wrong. And one one to do that is with satire. Sometimes you just have to laugh at stupidity.
