Fitzgerald shines as Warner leads Cardinals to franchise's first Super Bowl (Warner thanks Jesus)

NOTE: For those who don't get it, Jesus is not rooting for any particular team. When players say that they thank God or say they thank Jesus, they are thanking our Creator for giving them the strength to use the talent God gave them and to be the best they can be.

GLENDALE, Ariz. -- That's not a mirage rising out of the desert, folks. It's the Arizona Cardinals soaring to their first Super Bowl.

Yes, the Cardinals, founding members of the NFL, but historically among the most dysfunctional of franchises, finally have joined the big boys. Capitalizing on Larry Fitzgerald's three first-half touchdown receptions, then coolly marching downfield to Kurt Warner's 8-yard scoring pass to rookie Tim Hightower with 2:53 left, they beat the Philadelphia Eagles 32-25 Sunday for the NFC championship.

I guess I really don't follow football closely. All these years I thought that the Steelers vs. the Browns was a huge rivalry. I guess it isn't since your wife says so. Thank you for setting me straight.

All the years when the Browns played in the “mistake by the lake stadium” that 30,000 to 35,000 Steeler fans would trek up to Cleveland for the game did so not because it was a huge rivalry but because it wasn't a huge rivalry.

Who gives a rip about it being a big rivalry. The Cincy game is a big rivalry too. Your initial statement ignores the fact that the Brown fans hate Art Modell more than anything on the planet. Pittsburg is the enemy, Art Modell is a traitor.

In otherwords, your joke is backwards, since seeing Modell lose is more important to them than seeing ANY other NFL teams lose. Getting beat by Pittsburg is a twice yearly event for the Dogs, they’ve grown to accept it. What percentage of your friends will ever accept Modell as anything than the worse traitor ever? He’s more hated in Brown lore than Earnest Byner.

I know several Steeler fans and I can guarantee you that they would never cheer for the Browns under any condition.
They hate the Cleveland Browns, period. I am sure this has to do with the proximity the two cities have to each other and because they are divisional rivals.

They can't stand the Bengals either however Cincinnati has never been as big a rivalry to the Steelers as the Browns have been. Nor were the Houston Oilers when they were in the same division back in the day.

The new grudge match is between the Ravens and Steelers. This is for obvious reasons.

Warner is a class act and Fitzgerald was incredible. This may put Warner in the Hall of Fame.

Ditto here. If Fitzgerald keeps this up, he'll be on his way to Canton, too. That was one of the most spectacular performances by a receiver I've seen in a long time. He has to be glad he lost that Heisman!

Browns fans from coast to coast were ecstatic about this for about 20 seconds until they realized the Steelers are back in the Super Bowl.

That and we're looking at probably our 8th "rebuilding year" in our 10 as a franchise. I'm taking a "wait and see" approach with Mangini.

As a Giants fan I am so very happy that our ex-quarterback defeated the eagles yesterday.I respect McNabb and Reid, Jim Johnson. But after the stunt McNabb pulled on the Giants sideline last week, he had this type of loss coming. Lesson to kids out there, unless you have a superbowl ring, don’t act like an idiot. Because you’ll be remembered for acting like an idiot.

I saw the young Mr. Fitzgerald being interviewed after the game and he seemed like a class too. Congrats to all Cardinal fans.

Yeah, it's a stark contrast to Boldin's conduct. Jawing with your coach is one thing - anyone who's played football has done that. But storming out of the stadium just as your team is celebrating their first championship in decades? Classless.

Hey, the Giants won last year. And the Pittisburg QB fumbles a lot and gets sacked a lot. So it’s a toss up as to who’s going to win.

Just for the record, Ben Rothliesberger said “The Lord is good” after winning the game yesterday. The bad news is that Obama told a reporter in town he was a Steeler fan before moving to Chicago. Of course, that may not be true...

OK, so a 11-8 team is in the SB while an 11-5 team can’t even get in the play-offs....great system they got there...

I was really hoping for a PA Super Bowl. The Steelers are my team - but I won't enjoy the defeat of the Cardinals as much as I would have some other teams.

I sure hope Hines is back by then - he looked miserable on the sidelines. I missed his smile - he always looks so happy...like he has the best job in the world!

I’m not a particular Steeler fan, but if I got the first 10 picks for a team, Ward and Polamalu would be there. Those guys are great athletes. Polamalu might even be my first pick.

This one really hurt. After watching the game these are my observations: 1) Despite the gaudy numbers, McNabb did not look very good. I lost track of how many passes he overthrew, underthrew, or just plain missed. 2) Our defensive scheme in the first half was a joke. Assante Samuels looked like a piece of burnt toast out there. Warner knew what was coming and made the proper reads. 3) After going up in the fourth quarter our defense folded like a cheap lawn chair. 4) On the bright side at least we know who are tight end is going to be next year, and it's not LJ Smith.
