Does anyone know how to save the "Barney-Cam" videos currently on the White House site? I like them and enjoy them every year at Christmas and would like to be able to see them again
Any ideas?
Those Barney cam videos were absolutely funny and adorable. I will miss them.
I want to save them on my hard drive. I was just so saddened today when I looked at the site and realized they will be gone in two days.
I would love to see the Obama’s continue the tradition of the doggie cam and the children's page, etc. Perhaps they may honor that request. They will soon have a new puppy and the children in the country will be very curious about it. That puppy will be one of the few positive aspects of this Obama administration.
I am going to be leaving work here shortly. I’ll check it out this evening when I get home and, if I can figure out a way to it, I’ll check back here. :-)
I haven’t tried it myself, but RealPlayer is supposed to allow download of online videos. You’d have to download the latest version.
They’re on YouTube, with the obligatory, hate-filled anti-Bush comments of course.
They can’t even help themselves with light-hearted, harmless dog videos).
Hey I didn’t know that Barney Frank had a web cam oops wong Bawney
program called nettransport 2. install, then right-click the link & choose “download with nettransport”
I’m using WinHTTrack Website Copier (free download at http://www.httrack.com/) right now which started last night and is still going. I won’t be able to tell you if it works until it’s done. Has anyone else used it?
Forgot to say that the download is aimed at the website, not just the Barney cams.
Thank you.
I think the Bush White House site will eventually be archived and house at the presidential library site.
Thanks to james500 at #11; as per his instructions, right-click on each link and save to your hard drive.

YouTube Downloader (get it here: http://youtubedownload.altervista.org/ ) does a good job. It’s a two-step process, download the thing in YouTube native format to a tenmporary file, then save that out to assorted output formats (I use QuickTime for iPod.)
I use the FireFox DownloadHelper add-on. The video files are usually in an FLV format. I then convert them using an ImTOO MOV converter. It works very well for my needs.

Oops, I meant to refer #15 to you directly. The downloads I’ve checked so far all worked.
Thank you so much!
I am always pleased at the kindness of FReepers to help out each other. Hope I can return the favor one day :)
