From your mouth to God's ear! Any Offensive Coordinator that could not win with all of the talent the Cowboys have is not much of one. Jerry is blinded by Garrett because his Dad worked for the Cowboys for so long and Jason himself played for the Cowboys as back-up to Troy Aikman. I personally do not feel TO is the problem and hope that he stays in Dallas. He is the only player, besides Witten, that seems to care if they win or not.

The only thing Gruden accomplished was winning a superbowl WITH TONY DUNGY’S TEAM.

Tony Dungy gets a lot of credit for underachieving. He had an amazing defense and could not win and went to Indy and won once. The time he did win was in 2006. In the AFC championship game against a Patriots team that managed to put up 34 points against them with Reche Caldwell and Jabbar Gaffney as the WRs? The Pats’ defense was playing with 3rd stringers and guys they signed off the street that week. Lots of first round exits too.

Staying in Dallas means never having to be on the same team with TO again.

Exactly right. Following that first season with Tony Dungy’s team the cumulative Buc record is a sub-.500 winning percentage during the remainder of Gruden’s tenure. Gruden strikes me as arrogant and too often in conflict with his players.

Dungy underachieved in Indy. His record against the Pats, Chargers and Steelers in the playoffs was 1-5.

Yes but the main point is the team was not put together by Gruden- it was Dungy’s guys. Gruden couldnt even develop a QB and his drafts were weak. He shouldnt be a hot commodity.

They lost their running game, their QB missed 4 games and TO is no only a club house cancer he drops passes and is not what anyone would call a student of the game. His route running is sub par.

Dallas’ injuries were a huge factor in their failures this year but that’s football. Get rid of TO, get the running game healthy and get Williams healthy and this is a very good team.

Getting Gruden meant giving up 2 first round picks which is an expensive acquisition. Their last few drafts have seemed to net them some quaility players.

And, let’s also consider that the Beagles traded what amounted to Derrick Brooks and Warren Sapp for Mike Mamula. That deal was a key ingredient in making that Bucs D so good.

Real coaches like Gruden and Shanahan are losing their jobs. Meanwhile, idiots like Brad Childress remain. Proof positive that there are things in life that cannot be explained.

Stewart is out?
I had the same idea as you: send Wade to DC (b/c he did great with the Dallas D), bring in Shanahan as HC, and keep Garrett as OC (he's salvagable - give him another chance).

It's now rumored(I'm growing weary of them myself) that the Lambs will actually hire Spagoulo, which means Garrett has to come crawling back to Dallas. He really wanted out of here and I cant say as I blame him. Owens is the biggest thorn in this team's side, and will continue to be until he's gone. His HC is just goofy and his owner and apparently his starting QB have lost faith in him by all accounts. My source for this report:

NY Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo will be the new head coach of the St. Louis Rams.

So there are solid ex-coaches like Shanahan, Gruden , Fassel, Billick, etc still out there and the Browns pull the trigger early, again and make the wrong move.

But when you have fans that flock like SHEEP watching a bad product, do you really think the team cares?

What they should have done is the GM hire first, then wait on Shanahan to get back from vacation. With Gruden now available, the options are wide open. But no. They settle for 2nd best, then allow him to bring people along with no level of success in the NFL level to be on his staff.

Gruden would have fit well in this situation and maybe Brian Stewart could be D coord with him.

My prediction for 2009, 4-12, AGAIN!!!

That wasn’t Gruden’s team that won the SB - Tony Dungy built that Tampa Bay team before he too was sacked. Gruden is still a good coach, IMO. He’ll find employment somewhere.

The Journal is reporting the Packers have hired Dom Capers as defensive coordinator.

If only team owners could be traded. Washington could get rid of of Snyder and his curse.

You know the one where the more money Dan Snyder spends, the worse the team becomes.

ARRRRGGGGG!!!!
