In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
audacious \aw-DAY-shus\ adjective
1. daring, bold
2. insolent
3. marked by originality and verve *
* Indicates the sense illustrated in the example sentence.
Example sentence:
The band has been making original and creative music for well over ten years, but their latest album is by far their most audacious to date.
Did you know?
Shakespeare used "audacious" seven times in his plays. That in itself wasn't exactly an act of bold originality. The word, which comes from the Latin root "audac-" ("bold"), had been around for decades. But the Bard was the first to use "audacious" in its "insolent" sense ("Obey, audacious traitor; kneel for grace," Henry VI Part 2), and he may have been the first to use the adverb "audaciously." "Audacious" itself was something of an innovation in the 16th century: it was one of the earliest "-acious" words in English. Subsequently, we've added lots of "-acious" adjectives to our lexicon, including "pugnacious," "loquacious," "voracious," and even, in the 19th century, "bodacious" (which is most likely a combination of "bold" and "audacious").
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)

Look for new regulations even more audacious than cell phone bans once the big 0 has a chance to install his minions into the politburo.
CAR PHONE BAN GOES TOO FAR
Stopping Obama's new Fairness Doctrine is essential
No pushing at the door please!
Happy Humpday Everybody!

It’s audacious to think someone who knows nothing can be an expert on everthing.
I can’t wait until the audacious and salacious Illinois governor literally and figuratively swears in his senators.
You copied my homework before I was able to post it ————WAAAAAH
The infrequently attempted and “audaciously performed pre-9 AM triple post!! ;0)
And even more amazing is the triple post with three different sets of addressees.
the obamamania is underway here; my parking garage was closed this AM and i had to pay a block farther away from my ofc and pay $20 instead of $12 per day for that privilege! the obams mug is on the subway farecards also.
had to PARK a block farther away and pay for the privilege i mean. Am wearing my stylish glasses instead of contacts, and so can’t see worth a dang!
I do not envy you. I would be taking an extended vacation were I in your shoes. (of course my feet would probably hurt like hell.)
oopps, didn’t see that ~ the wotd thread mod is an busy job!
thanks for the chuckles.
if the weather is ok, i intend to drive up to Ytown OH to see my bro and his fam, with xsboy and xsbrownie, since xshub and xsteen will be leaving for your area on Friday AM. No school or work til next Tuesday anyway, so if weather cooperates, we will head north out of the leftwing cesspool.
It's funny, when I read that sentence, my eyes saw the word PARK to begin with. My eyes missed some junk that caused my previous post to truncate my reply from the post.
Blago is like, audacious man.
i know what you mean. i read for meaning and subconsciously skip over most typos or mistakes like that. God knows, there are anal retentives galore on FR, whose mission in life is to point those things out! Quite honestly, there are a few who so dedicate themselves to it, you have to feel sorry for them, as it clearly provides them with a feeling of self-worth that they don’t derive from their own lives.
