Wal-mart Ammo Stock is not being replenished from their warehouse. Is seems that corporate Wal-mart does not want to have it's warehouse stocked with new ammunition merchandise after Obama takes office. If Obama issues an executive order halting, restricting, or banning ammo sales, wal-mart and other retailers maybe left with stock they cannot sell at retail or return to their supplier.
That is crazy expensive! I am glad I already have all I need.
Everyone I know has already stocked up on ammo. Not a problem.
I haven’t been to the Walmart in Poulsbo but over here in southeast WA the Walmarts began phasing out guns and ammo several years ago. They either had a precognition that Obama was going to be elected or did it for other business reasons /sarc About all you can find there now are cleaning patches and shooting glasses. Maybe a few trap shells on the clearance rack.
Other stores around here have had fairly normal inventory when I’ve looked, although Sportsman’s Warehouse did have a few empty places on the shelf but those sections were the exception. A few stores are still advertising sale prices on a few types of ammunition (e.g. 9mm lugar). A couple of weeks ago there was a big sale on the AR-15 ammo. I was there but don’t own that gun so didn’t pay close attention to the exact calibers.
Just ordered 20# of pure Bees Wax for fluxing bullet alloy before pouring into a bullet mold.
AR-15s seem cool... but what a price!Tell me about it!
You can still try building your own.
While the component parts have gone up, for the most part it is still considerable less expensive than buying one NIB.
I’ve not had trouble getting ammo, yet. Supplies are definitely down, but new stock is coming in where I shop.
I am presently romancing a Colt 45 in stainless steel. I just love the gun and it’s history. The last few guns I have bought have been .44 magnum. I figured why dilute the ammo stock with a bunch of different rounds, but I think I am going to have to have the .45.
There has been no announcement publicly or privately that they are stopping ammo sales. As stated in my previous post: As a gunstore owner and husband of an Walmart insider I can attest to the HUGE demand causing supply shortages. I would be surprised if they are stopping ammo sales. However, anything is possible in this political and economic climate.
Your ignorance in regards the changes at Wally-world and retail in general is dumbfounding!
The “shelf” removed was called a riser. It was the top shelf, which was designed to be used as a ready storage area from which the lower shelves could be replenished. The problem was that STUPID people thought it was a “shelf” to shop from, ignoring the signs saying “please ask for assistance”. These idiots were hurting themselves by standing on the lower “shelves” and falling off and hurting themselves. The next thing to happen was the lawsuit by said IDIOTS. Once these lawsuits succeeded, the scammers who make a living scamming and suing, caught word and started intentionally pulling stuff down on themselves, and then suing. Neat huh?
As far as “Just In Time” goes: No retailer would make it in today’s retail environment without keeping inventory down. They all do it. I own and run a small gunshop. I keep my inventory down using the same methods as Wally-world, just on a much smaller scale. The supply chain usually works well. However, lately the chain is broken, and not just in re ammo. The trucking industry is sucking wind and stuff is languishing in warehouses all over the country due to the problems caused by the recent banking/credit/business issues.
Please don’t hold it against this old twidget for schooling you on this.
It’s all your fault! Troublemaking hoarder.
38 special and 380 hollow point haven’t been on their shelves in the slots allocated for them for 2 months now.
I have visited 3 stores in FL and one in Nebraska. Everytime I go in the shelves are emptier and the clerk says nothing is coming in to replace the shelf stock.
Executive Orders: “stroke of the pen law of the land”
Such a power is wide open for abuse by any President with an agenda.
Should anybody be stockpiling shotshells (of any sort) about now?
Just another way to say “it can't happen here” eh?
Yeah, that's worked on many occasions. If it's tinfoil you suggest, then bring it on. One thing for sure, if I have to defend myself or my family, I can do that. Who will be defending you? Those you insult or yourself.
If you think you need to go out and buy tons of guns and ammo because Obama is going to outlaw them all, then of course you’re welcome to your fantasy. I’ve got other things to do with my money.
I don't need a “tons” of firearms, because I carefully selected what I need for defensive purposes.
Those that have finally had the light dawn on them in relation to their Constitutional rights, AND the reason behind that right are scrambling to catch up.
Perhaps one of them might just save you or your family and then you can contemplate your arrogance and where you spent you money in peace. Then again, maybe being prepared is not an intelligent position, just a fantasy....
Assuming this is accurate, another explanation would be that the people who are worried about ammo availability will have already stocked up by now, and will not necessarily be in the market for a lot more. It therefore makes sense to draw down on warehouse stocks, and then re-stock shelves using “just in time” ordering from the manufacturers. Meanwhile, manufacturers are likely to be drawing down their inventories, and after Jan 20 will be making ammo to satisfy outstanding orders.
The Walmart in Paulsbo removed rifles from their stock but only because it was too much of a hassle and their inventory was not moving. But then P’bo is very liberal anyway so guns there were something nasty to them ....
One of my neighbors bought 15 cases of canning jars at Wal-Mart last night. He said we'd need to grow and preserve our own food shortly. So...
A couple of other friends went to the 'packed' gun show this weekend to buy guns for the same reason, economic turmoil, not Obama.
