For a SITREP on the dinner see #477.:)
Actually when the waitress found out it was my birthday she said "Why didn't you tell me? You could have had our free birthday sundae!"
I told her that was fine, wasn't really in the mood for ice cream.:)
There were hardly any customers; all the sane people were inside under a cozy quilt sipping cocoa in front of a roaring fire.
As it was I had two coupons for free desserts from an online survey I took last summer, plus a $5.00 off coupon, plus, and this was the kicker, a $50 gift certificate; so we not only ate for free, we got change back!!:-)
So I didn't feel bad about leaving our sweet waitress a generous tip especially since she wasn't going to have many customers due to the weather.
Schools around here are all closed again today. At the moment the air temp is -17; windchill -30.
....and, that is a very good question!
Looks great! Thanks!
Holbein. I love his work.
One of the more intriguing Holbein portraits, imho; an imaginary scene: in the background we see Henry VII & Elizabeth of York; in the foreground Henry VIII & Jane Seymour.
I often wonder how things would have turned out if Jane had lived. I think he was truly content with her as his wife and of course she had given him his longed-for son.
I must say, that if you go outside for about 10 minutes and come back in, it feels real toasty in here. Do you have tickets to fan appreciation at Lambeau?
My two sons are as different as night and day.(on many things) The older never watches his money, the younger one watches every penny. Every time we drive to Illinois to visit and we either order out or go out, it is always to somewhere where he has coupons. He saves a ton every year with coupons.
Belated Birthday Wishes Mozie.
Very sorry to hear about Kachina, also would like to know where Chairman went?
Happy Belated Birthday Mozie. I hope dinner with hubby was devine!
Thanks for breakfast again, lysie.
I'm a big fan of coupons/discounts etc.; although every now & then it's time to just plain "splurge."
Wish I could get motivated to get some work done around here. Feeling pretty lazy.
I went out to feed the chickens. A gust of wind hit me. My eyeballs are frozen! ;-)
Last night hubby and I went to Uno's for dinner since I had a coupon. LOL! Aside from the fact that we found out they named a pizza after Barry, (they're a Chicago chain, he's a Chicago man, etc.) we had a great time. they have great staks and pizza, etc. plus mini deserts that sell for $1.99 and are actually worth it. The general manager came over welcomed us to Unos statted he saw we had a steak coupon wished us a good dinner and left. Later he came back with a free apple crisp and ice cream desert and a free bag of goodies. The bag had 6 coupons in it plus Tootsie rolls, all kinds, and Wrigley's spearmint gum. Chicago is home to both companies. Hubby just looked at me and asked what did you do? I joined the Uno club... but the manager stayed for 10-15 minutes and talked football, and sports to us. He was a really nice guy!
Never heard of Uno's.Sounds like a fun place!
It'll warm up here for the weekend; just in time for a snowstorm.
Chair has just become uber-busy. However, I think he’ll be dropping in from time to time to let off steam.
NO PASSPORTS ARE NOT HERE AT THIS MOMENT. WE’RE ARE BUSY PACKING AND HOPING THEY’LL COME IN. DAY ISN’T OVER YET.
oh lysie! It is 12 degrees here outside - inside the center thethermometer reads 52 degrees. I am probably calling my boss and going home early.
Take care and cozy up to the fire.
Mail has come and gone. No passports. They may be on the late truck. I’m to check later this afternoon.
PLEASE PRAY!
