That may be so, and it may not be.

I disagree. He may have been 100% right but he conducted himself 100% stupidly on that occasion and got himself 100% arrested when he fell into the trap set by an overly-officious cop who was just looking for someone like him to take out his frustrations on.
He was a smartass on three occasions. First he tried to tell the cop his job and that he should be directing traffic. Second he called him a liberal under his breath but was overheard. And third he told the cop that God was watching.
That’s plenty of provocation.
Cops deal with smartasses every day: it comes with the territory. Sometimes they get to give smartasses the gears as payback, which in this case happened to ChevyDude.
What happened wasn’t right but it was predictable.
He would have been much smarter to keep his mouth shut, smile politely, and complain later that the cop wasn’t directing traffic like he should have been, from the safety of a telephone booth.

This should change. They are servants of the people. When schoolyard bullies grow up they should work at McDonalds, not be police officers.
