Patrick Swayze checked himself into the hospital this morning suffering from a bout of pneumonia, which is said to be a complication of chemotherapy treatments for his pancreatic cancer.
Swayze appeared on television this week, giving an exclusive interview with Barbara Walters about his battle with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
Swayze was scheduled to join his fellow co-star and producers in presenting A&E's new drama The Beast to critics, which he stars in. After realizing he would be too ill to make it, according to A&E reps, Patrick asked that the show go on and that they pass along a message from him about how "unbelievably proud" he is of the work they've done so far on the show.
"You can bet that I'm going through Hell," Swayze recently told Walters. "And I've only seen the beginning of it. There's a lot of fear here. There's a lot of stuff going on. Yeah, I'm scared. Yeah, I'm angry. Yeah, I'm asking, 'Why me?'"
So seeing some one else's pain should make one feel less of there own pain?
What a cruel, imbecilic post
He just might not be so consumed with his self pity.
I dont quite know how to respond to such a callous, shocking and cruel statement. So you you think this guy should go look at other dying people so he wont be so self absorbed about his own dying? Really?
I don’t think it was a horrible or hateful thing to say.
If a grown man can go into a hospital where toddlers and small children are dying from the same thing, without the chance to grow up, become rich, married, etc... and see the way that they handle it without self pity then that would be a good thing for mr. swayze(whom i love by the way)
get a clue and get some perspective...are you sure you want to be on a conservative website?
If you are a normal human being , it is normal to be angry when you are essentially given a death sentance at any age. it’s what you do with those emotions that matter and it looks as if he has chosen to fight. Good forhim.
I too hope that he finds the love and comfort of Christ before he dies.
It does seem to be the worse of the cancers. I remember when Michael Landon announced he had pancreatic cancer, he looked terrible [jaundiced and thin] and I think he died within about 3 months. Very sad.
I’m sorry to hear about your friend.

What a cruel, imbecilic post....
Unfortunately, posts like these seem to be typical of Coldwater Creek.
I’m not surprised. He seems like a very nice guy. I wish him the best.
Ah, celebrities, we live our miserable lives through them. When they die, it’s like we die! By the way, who is this man?
And, btw, he was ASKED how he felt in an interview and answered honestly so let's all bash the dying man because WE think he answered incorrectly. /s
Sincere prayers to Patrick and Lisa. May the healing hand of the Lord touch him. If it is not to be, then may the Lord hold him close and may his passing be peaceful.
Hopefully this is just a setback, and Patrick will recover to continue his fight against cancer.
That's just cold. Reality and self pity are two different things. He has been extremely brave in light of what he is facing. Doesn't mean that the dying are still not afraid of dying....young or old.
He's a favorite of mine too. I really enjoyed him in North & South. His new program on A& E starts next Thursday.
Red Dawn is scheduled to show on MGMHD on Tuesday at 11:15 p.m. I’ve got my DVR set to record it. I saw it many years ago when my kids were younger. I recently saw him in a holiday movie called “Christmas in Wonderland.” It was a cute family film.
Then you are probably the only person (or the few) on the planet who has been given a death sentence and not ask why. It is not so unusual for a person to try and reconcile the fate they can't escape with the past they can't change, and wonder if one has to do with the other and ask "why me Lord?". That's a really good question to ask before leaving the earthly body.
Good Lord. THe man is dying from a hideous cancer. And you accuse him of self pity,,
I don’t think being conservative has anything to do with the shock at the post.
People have feelings about dying,,anger, why me, this is hell, sadness, the whole gamut. It is not wrong and is not self pitying. And seeing others even children dying doesn’t change it.
It shocked a good number of us so it is shocking. It was disgusting to a good number of us, so it was disgusting.
Perhaps not you,,but then you are not us and can’t tell us what to feel.
.
My cousin was diagnosed with this when he had many more years ahead of him
I remember that comedy skit..it was great!
One of them is already gone....soon the other will pass into eternity. Life is so very short...soon we will all join them... a sobering thought.
