Patrick Swayze checked himself into the hospital this morning suffering from a bout of pneumonia, which is said to be a complication of chemotherapy treatments for his pancreatic cancer.
Swayze appeared on television this week, giving an exclusive interview with Barbara Walters about his battle with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
Swayze was scheduled to join his fellow co-star and producers in presenting A&E's new drama The Beast to critics, which he stars in. After realizing he would be too ill to make it, according to A&E reps, Patrick asked that the show go on and that they pass along a message from him about how "unbelievably proud" he is of the work they've done so far on the show.
"You can bet that I'm going through Hell," Swayze recently told Walters. "And I've only seen the beginning of it. There's a lot of fear here. There's a lot of stuff going on. Yeah, I'm scared. Yeah, I'm angry. Yeah, I'm asking, 'Why me?'"
God bless him and help him heal.
Like I said before, bad things seem to happen to good people. His interview with Baba was so positive and he’s quite the fighter. I pray he can beat this setback.
Especially “Wolverines,” which was made when it was made against the conventional sophomoric communist love of H-wood.
Come on, put yourself in his shoes.
Many people are dying from this lousy disease and yes children too, but that doesn’t mean he can’t express how he feels. Most of what I saw was that he was fighting this and that the tabloids had said almost a year ago he was on his deathbed. He went to work every day to shoot this new television show and only missed one day. I would like to see a lot of other people have that determination.
I read once that his co-star in Blue and Gray was invited to his New Mexico ranch to hang out, ride horses and get to know one-another before they started filming. He said he never met a nicer, more down-to-earth person than Patrick.
I watched the interview and he said he prays alot.
I'm guessing that by now you are wishing that you could take this comment back.
You can't, but you could ask the mod to pull it.
My heart really goes out to his wife... I was in tears by the time the BW special was over the other evening.
Yuck! You have a heart of stone.
This is what I watched my father die of and it’s not an easy way to go..
The Pneumonia “may” do him in and in a way it would be a blessing - judging from my own experience.
Prayers for him.
That was a heartless thing to say, CC.
His new series airs on A&E this coming week (15th), the reviews for it is excellent. Did you watch the BW interview this week, you likely would appreciate how he described what he was going through filming The Beast while undergoing Chemo on the weekends and taking no pain meds, because they dull your thinking. I believe he is taking pain meds now, I've seen interviews with him before and he was speaking more slowly in this interview -- like people who are taking pain meds are prone to do.
You keep getting flak for this. Why not just ask a mod to remove it since I’m sure you regret having been so callous. Just hit “abuse” and ask.
Did he ride his own horses in NS? The horse he rode looked very much like his horse he was showing Barbara Walters the other night, boy are they gorgeous animals — smart, too!
I hope and pray meds have improved a hundred percent as my dad suffered so badly for so long.
It would truly be a miracle. The death rate for this type of cancer is close to 100%. The time line that I surmise from reports when first hearing of it, is probably 3 or 4 months, probably less. However, the G-d of Abraham, Issac and Jacob is in control, and my opinion means nothing. I recently lost a friend that had pancreatic cancer, and Mr. Swayze’s emotions are totally consistent..
My favorite Patrick Swayze movie was the North and the South. I believe that’s how he got his break into stardom.
