The Southern California Weather Authority has issued a Santa Ana Wind Warning effective Friday into next week. The warning has replaced the Santa Ana Wind Watch was means a pending situation is on hand. The warning signals that the more serious event is likely to happen and conditions are favorable for such.
"These values are nearly the same as the strong event of October 2007, "said Meteorologist Kevin Martin of the Southern California Weather Authority. "I do know for sure that hurricane force winds will happen in some populated zones. The pass and canyon regions will open up best overnight Friday into Saturday morning. 100mph wind gusts are not out of the question for the prone areas in the pass and canyon regions."

I remember when I lived in Malibu in the 80s and we would get Santa Anas that gusted over 80 MPH.
The heat and speed dries everything out and creates static electricity that can jump 4 inches!
It is a very bizarre feeling being in them.
