Topless coffee shop proposed for small Maine town

A one-time motel in a small central Maine town could soon be offering an eye-opening way to start the day — topless coffee shop waitresses. The Vassalboro Planning Board on Tuesday will consider a business permit request for a topless coffee shop on busy Route 3. The one-story building has also been the home to several other business ventures, most recently Mac Daddy's Pub at the Fat Cat Grille, which closed three or four years ago.

Neighbors have mixed opinions. Some say Vassalboro is a rural town and that a topless coffee shop would bring the wrong crowd. But others say they'd like to see a business make a go of it there.

Donald Crabtree of Ellsworth, who has applied for the business permit, told the Kennebec Journal that he didn't want to discuss his plan until after the planning board meets.

I like my coffee the way I like my women.

About to pass out?

Marshall Dodge would have had a field day with this development! First thing I thought of seeing this.

My Son used to sit and talk with Marshall after his shows at Sugarloaf. If Marshall hadn’t gone to Hawaii we might still have him.

Well, the waitresses will always be pointedly friendly..........

And you'll immediately know if they're excited to see you drop by. :=)

He'd probably have a dry, witty comment or two to make. Stuff that you don't start laughing about until about halfway through the ride home.

"It ain't that it ain't funny; you just don't get it." RIP, Marshall.

Some time ago, I had the pleasure (pleasure? dunno....) of sitting next to a couple of folks from away during a Wicked Good Band / Tim Sample concert. They spent the entire time elbowing each other and saying "What?" "Whazzit?" "What's he talking about?" "Hunh?" and so on... You've got to be from thayah to undahstahnd. lol!

Why just topless? Why not bottomless too? Are these people a bunch of prudes or something?

There are already truck stops scattered throughout the U.S. in which women dance around buck naked. You can get coffee. You can get a whole meal. You can even get a lap dance. (Frankly, if they're offering all this--why beat around the bush, so to speak? Why not just offer prostitution, I wonder?) (I don't condone this, mind you. It's merely another example of decadence and moral decay in America. Note tagline.)

Somebody ought to open up one of these on busy Route 3, if such is in demand there, and show the Planning Board what a bunch of unimaginative prudes they really are.

I've never admired the step-by-step approach. If you're going to sink into moral decay, why not sink all the way to the bottom right off the bat?

The old joke goes "What's the difference between moose, and women from Aroostook? Moose don't wear flannel."

Having spent time living in Canada, Michigan and Upstate NY, I have to say that a more, um, robust women is not a bad thing to have warming the bed next to you in winter in places like that. The skinny ones don't produce all that much warmth.

The gold cross on the necklace is a nice touch. A fine and virtuous lass, that one.

If you give the public a taste, you can build interest. You can also solicit money from supporters who want to lobby for something more.

The skin film makers of the 1930s-1960s would push the envelope but said that when hardcore became street legal it ruined their game because it gave away the money shot. They could always pretend in their trailers that you were going to get something NEXT week that you didn’t see THIS week.

"He was almost one of us"

Seems every town has a coot called, of course, "The New Man." Around here, it's a 92-year old guy who moved here at the age of 2 weeks ... from another town in Maine.

Do my best to keep him out of Vassalboro.

And now for Business News. Advertising agency over to South Portland just got the Carnation Condensed Milk Brand Account!

Their first ad reads:
No teats to pull
No hay to pitch
Just punch a hole
In the Son of a B**ch

Can't figure out why I just thought of that.

The original, larger and unexpurgated version is somewhat more appealing.

I dunno. I'd have to see it before I can determine guilt or innocence. Gotta a link?
