I never been a big bird fan.
However, my bird pics from the Everglades were freakin’ unbelievable. I always visit Shark Valley when I’m in town.
Thanks for sharing.

Pelican shot is astonishing. Perfect centering, and you have him scoping right at ya.
Keep ‘em comin.
I miss your yard lizard shots.

The breeding season is near, the birds are sprucing up their wardrobes.. Disappointing. I hoped you were a Brit and had some good pictures of some "birds". :-).

In the latter part of the 19th century and into the early twentieth, snowy egret plumes were very popular on hats. The result was that these birds were hunted until they were nearly extinct.

Beautiful!
I love both pics, but I especially love the pelican.
I have a soft spot for them.
They used to steal my bait. ;o)

Thanks SS. The brown pelican disappeared from the Texas coast for a few years because DDT had been thinning their egg shells. They were transplanted back after DDT was banned. The banning of DDT caused a rebound in several declining bird populations and an increase in malaria in Africa, from which many people have died.
Several birds, the brown pelican, geese, cranes, and others, fly in a “V” formation. My Cajun friend patiently explained to me why the “V” is sometimes longer on one side than on the other. “The long side,” he said, “has more birds in it.”
