Peyton Manning/Receivers - Masters of Precision
The Los Angeles Times | January 2, 2009 | Sam Farmer

They repeat routes so many times it appears effortless come game time. That's the way it seems with Manning & Co., at least, a group so practiced and precise that a whole warmup can take place without the football touching the turf.

"They practice so much that it becomes almost automatic when he throws them a pass," said Jim Mora . .

Obviously, there is great wisdom and success in the approach Manning takes; something both young and old) can strive to emulate. Yet, the "sages" of educating today's young people in the foundations of learning regard this as awful, something "stultifying", as "drill and kill,"

The Colts' summer training camp is practically in my back yard. I love watching the practices. There is so much going on, you cannot imagine it's organized, but it is. Peyton hitting pass after pass after pass. Freeney lines up tackling dummies the whole length of the field and runs zigging through them for hours. When you see how hard these guys (I'm sure other pros work hard as well), you begin to understand what makes a pro athlete.

To me, what sets the Colts apart is that you rarely see a Colt player act like Chad Johnson, or Terrell Owens. Tony Dungy simply doesn't allow it. I feel safe taking my children to watch these practices because I know they are going to see behavior worthy of emulation.

One way to stop him is to do what the UH did
to his father when he played for Old Miss./S

If you haven’t already read Dungy’s book I would highly recommend it.

I think the thing I like most about the Colts is that they genuinely seem like a group of honorable players. With few exceptions, they conduct their private life in ways that don't detract from their public lives. Contrast this with the Pacers which, at least in previous years, seemed to be nothing more than a group of thugs who were lucky enough to be able to throw a ball through a hoop. The Colts deserve praise for their work on and off the field, and I think coach Dungy deserves a good measure of credit for this.

That’s one of the reasons they’re my favorite team - they’re such a classy hard working team; it’s hard not to like them.

Not to mention they’re just awesome...but I’m biased

Agreed - Tony Dundy is a fantastic coach, especially for how he leads the team. They’re a good group of guys, and I love to watch them play

Thanks for the recommendation; I'll look into it.

No, one of his lineman stepped on his foot and
rolled over his leg breaking it.

Sorry, he had a broken left arm during the last few games in 1970. I know because it was the only reason my Miss. State Bulldogs beat the Rebels in the Egg Bowl that season.

Very poor play calling in their last series. Awful.
