I am glad you enjoyed it..It made me think of all the football games I have shivered through and the vain attempts to keep dry when it’s pouring rain...
I missed the Rose Bowl Parade this year..just forgot because I was cleaning up my Christmas disorder. It was over when I remembered...Sounds great.

A Lot To Remember
He who restrains his lips is wise. —Proverbs 10:19

Thanks a lot,” the man behind the postal counter said to the person in front of me. The clerk, Jon, had seen me in line and was hoping I would overhear him. When it was my turn, I said hello to Jon, who had been a student of mine when I taught high school in the 1980s.

“Did you notice what I said to her?” Jon asked. “I told her, ‘Thanks a lot.’” Sensing that I was missing his point, he explained, “Remember what you told us about the term a lot? You said a lot was a piece of land, not a phrase to use instead of much.”

Astounding! An English lesson from a quarter-century before had stuck with Jon through all those years. That speaks clearly to us of the importance of what we say to others. It also backs up one of my favorite lines by poet Emily Dickinson: “A word is dead when it is said, some say. I say it just begins to live that day.”

The words we say may have long-term consequences. Our comments, our compliments, and even our harsh criticisms may stick with the hearer for decades.

No wonder Scripture says, “He who restrains his lips is wise” (Prov. 10:19). The words we speak today live on. Let’s make sure they come from “the tongue of the righteous” (v.20).

Father, help me live today
With thoughtfulness in what I say,
Confronting wrong with truth and fact,
Expressing gentleness and tact. —Hess

The tongue is a small organ that creates either discord or harmony.

Good morning all! Nice words there Mayor, and words do live on after we utter them. I just wished our political types remembered that a bit more often!

Sunrise sets pearl and rose in place
as across the morning sky they race
Until the sun lifts its sleepy grace
and we feel the touch upon our face

Lonely Lords

High above the tree line the stars hold sway
The Lords of the sky when King Sun is away
The Moon, the Chamberlain of the night
Over shines all that falls within its sight
They all gaze down upon we poor mortals here
So filled with our indecision and heart’s fear
Unmoved by rages or the silent prayers unheard
Hopes and dreams et free to fly like a little bird
In their lofty positions they are bemused of us
Seeing no reason for our endless seeming fuss
And we hold them as if nobles of houses great
As if they had a single thing to do with our fate
Unaware how lonely each of them is so far away
Their arrogance but a shell for spirits worn fey
So distant in the depth of endless empty space
Strewn like jewels across a veil of gossamer lace
What they’d give to be mortal but for a single day
And know of love and the depth of emotion’s play

If our politicians actually did this world would be a much better place.

So true!

Of course we need to hold them to the rules or they will do what they want, like a a rebellious dog.

GRAYWOLF

Mystic gray wolf
Calls to me
The sounds of north
Of snow clad tree
Of something moving
With a rush
Gray streaks within
The underbrush
A pale moon shines
Over mountain's thighs
Reflecting from
Deep yellow eyes
That grab your spirit
Bind your soul
Into my dreams
The gray wolf stole.
